Upgrade brakes....advice please.

...have standard factory fitted brakes on 16" wheels on a Classic.
They are not very reasuring now my car is quicker. What is a good upgrade option for brakes and pads without braking (no pun intended) the bank. Anything to avoid?

I can recommend Scoobysport's "Group-N+" package. A bargain at £380 (although to get that price you'd need to buy Scoobynet Plus membership).

Get some decent pads, braided lines, dot 5 fluid. See how you get on with it and upgrade the discs later (ie when yours wear out) if necessary.

Try Perfomance Braking in Monmouth. I had some stuff from them a couple of months back - very helpful & excellent service.
