use good oil - i like silcolene 10/40w pro 4 - available from most good motorcycle retailers.
since its an import, service issues eg: history do not prevail upon you.
i would change oil and filter every 3.5 - 4k miles if you drive short journeys or drive the car hard generally.
if you want to do oil change your self there are ways to do it properly and someone should be able to point you in the direction of appropriate thread. (i am generally a bit cr*p at thread finding )
other info is easily found on search engine or by trawling the drivetrain sections etc and if you can't find anything SHOUT
well done mate, glad for you.
Weava
ps: if the car has been owned in the uk prior to you, there is a good chance it has had some crud fuel at some stage. run a couple of tanks of optimax thru and then perform ecu reset.
not as hard as it sounds - remove earth frombattery for 15 mins or so - just find something else to do for a while - then run car as normal. it has something to do with the fact that the car will register to run on the lowest octane fuel it has been exposed to, thus if you put in higher octane fuel eg: SUL or optimax it will not give the full benefits.
someone other than me can explain better, but i stand to corrected on this being the underlying princaple.

Welcome to Scooby ownership.
The only advice I can give is to be careful about taking advice from Scoobynet
Other than that, as the others have said, change the oil regularly, although if its a standard MY93WRX I'd only do it every 6k/6 months. But its your car so check the oil and if you want to change it every 3k then do it.
But most of all ENJOY IT

Get yourself an oil temperature gauge and don't push it 'till it reaches full temperature. About 4 times as long as the water temp gauge takes to settle so don't think it ok to rely on that.
