Subaru Reliability - Press Today
#1
The survey in the papers today seems to be based on warranty claims and the cost of repair. I see that Subaru rolls in at 22 out of 23 cost of £1,038 and 21 claims per 100. I guess thats all of us who get their clutches changed before the warranty expires!

And that doesn't put me off picking up number 5 this weekend
I've found that Japanese car dealers provide a far better service when looking at faults on cars or just looking after their customers than most others.

Didn't really make sense to me it being at position 22 as it's claims put it in 3rd place behind Mazda and Toyota, as we all know they are very reliable. What stands out is the yearly costs to run it, and the baulk of this cost is just general servicing prices, not repairs.
So it does seem that our dealers are the biggest chargers on labour, i have just had my 2 services in the last 12 months, no repairs to be done, no extra parts just services only 7,000 miles driven in the year and these cost £400,i'm not complaining i love my scooby but these are the ridiculous prices we have to pay.
This is the reason the Impreza is in position 22.

Hi Andy (sorry to hi-jack the thread a little Dave)
I pick up a STi8 on Saturday - now that I'm finally out of the contracting game, I felt it was good time to buy a new car.. and no matter how hard I tried to convince myself I wanted a different type of car, I failed miserably and ordered the STi8, fortunately found one in stock due to a cancelled order in WR Blue
Hope to see you at one of the meets soon - what did you get?
Alex

scoobyfella - Subaru garages charging the most for labour? Maybe you should shop around. BTW Evo services cost more and are more frequent, if you don't want to really get scared don't even look and BMW, Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo!

At least (usually) you just drop the car in for warranty work and it gets done. You don't get slapped with an invoice which would get repaid later - this is the method i found Ford dealers use.

Yeah, sorry Dave for the hi-jack!
Good to hear Alex, should be a bit quicker than the wagon
Got myself a new WRX PPP
Just to get the thread back on track a little As stated my current MY03 is my 6th scoob and apart from one or two very minor things over the years all have been totally reliable (touching wood as I type!) Servicing isn't the cheapest but not that bad considering the performance available and price of the car. Also better with the new 10k service intervals.

Mattel,
The advertisment was about the general run of the mill cars, which as much as people on here would not like to think a scooby falls into that catergory, and a evo + the other supercars don't.
As for servicing i only have a subaru dealer to go to and that is 70 miles away so i don't have a choice, but it seems we are getting away from the point the paper was making that a Impreza is expensive to run, i don't think anyone on here can disagree with that however passionate about scoobys you are.
