Cool

I put this on the other thread.

could I suggest , all drivers taking part pay an extra £10 and all spectators over 16 pay an extra £5 ,half the total could go towards prize funds for different categories(best 1/4,top speed, handling and outright winner-similar to TOTB) and the other half to a charity of the outright winners choice.

it should open the event up to any bigger power scoobs across Europe.

I would also leave it at elvington. as for inviting other marques- a few different makes is one thing but too many and it would end up like TOTB, after all it is a scooby shootout

Cool

Have a special event for Scoobs with dead engines (1/4 push perhaps) then more of us can still participate?

Certainly a handling section would be very good.

i think elvington is perfect for this sort of event (u can still race in the wet weather, which you can't do @ the pod)

Handling section would be a big plus for 2004

Yeah i know what you mean but the problem was to many scoobs battling against the car they had just had, for instance the Focus RS and Civic type R ran together all the time, people wanna see a bit more of a battle.

Why not set up a day with another site, for instance www.passionford.com a scooby Vs cossie shoot out?

i thought everything was spot-on, relaxed, well run and lots of action without delay. yorks is a bit of a trek but seeing as it was available 10-5 you had plenty of time to get there and have fun. i liked that it was mostly scoobs with a few interlopers to spice it up, any more would have diluted it too much.

my 11yr old son had a fantastic time with unlimited access to all the cars (as well as the scoobs, he loved the supras, CTRs and NSX) without officials telling him to stand-back.

i'd vote for same again, just with about 30% more numbers.

its a good job some of the "interlopers" turned up cos with just the 40 odd scoobs paying it would have been a big let down!

deffo needs more people to take the plunge and get themselves on the strip next time!

mid afternoon almost no one was having a go, no queues at all.

You need to get a deposit from people and a decent one at that..

The pod would be ideal for us southern folk but as stated... what if it rains?? the northern monkies would travel down to be told that they cant run... not really fair.
Going by TOTB, Elvington seems a good venue...

I must be in the 'High Talk' Catagory

Rob

p.s. maybe a bit earlier in the year?? The shootout weather was good this year but if you look at our summer this year we have done well. Next summer might not be quite so warm... it is normally **** by the end of sept.

How about:

Instead of handling, a handbag section
Prize for fastest excuse
or a duel event - 20 paces type duel

Exactly, thats why i think it would be a good idea to get 2 clubs along to battle it out. more rivalry and bigger numbers.

if weather can be good then santa pod gets my vote also as i may of missed the fact that i could of but at Elvington all u kud do was watch the cars launch whereas pod u can be right at end of middle or wotever & IMO a better view avaialable from stands & banks
Si
PS next year i may bring a few non scoobies & my new purchase if it isnt still sat in Japan

Us focus boys noticed something on the straightliners site, emailed them for confirmation and just turned up, couldn't find any info online anywhere. Did seem like some scoobs just did 1 or 2 runs? Would be cool to see some EVO's running against scoobs, but I guess the handbags would be out before the start

How about inviting a "non-competitive" club, eg focus RS OC or the saxo boys, no direct competitition to the scoob times, but more like running 2 events, handling circuit could be competitive though. This would help to fill the day out better, and the banter might remain friendly

Elvinton is a good venue IMO, good chance of luring the Scots down to run, I live in the North East and it's still a 2 hour drive for me, so it's not that far norf!
