Just about to buy and need advice _ long ish
#1
I have posted before and got some good advice from a previous thread, many thanks for that. I am now in a position to buy a car that I have seen today and wanted to ask a few questions before buying.
Its a 96 on an N WRX STI in WR Blue. It has covered 110,000 KM and has had a new engine 9000 ago. It appears to be in excellent condition with a 12 month ticket apart from a few stone chips which the owner is having repaired shortly before selling. It has the original 16" alloys in gold (yuck!), a dump valve, samco hoses, induction kit, strut brace, full leather interior that the owner had made for the car (recovered seats).
Now here are the questions.
1) Is 7500 ok for what I have listed above?
2) It has a twin headlamp conversion. What are these worth as I will be poping the originals back in.
3) The owner says he has fitted 4 pot subaru calipers to the front replacing the original 2 pots. What did they come with as standard?
4) It has the rear bumper splitters? in black plastic. Can these and the side ones be sprayed to match the body or do you have to buy the bumper with these on already, or do they come ready painted to buy?
5) The front does not have the spilters as I have seen on others models. Is this a bumper swop or is it a simple case of ad on parts?
6) Is lowering the vehicle a simple operation of fitting lowering springs?
7) Can you put uk rear lights in the rear to do away with the standalone rear fog light?
I know its a long post, but I am itching to buy the right car.
Many thanks,
Wayne.

I am new to Scooby ownership myself so can only give advive on Question4. I went to see the subaru Impreza 1994 WRX(that I eventually brought) from a garage and it had the side skirt in black along with the back splitter. They painted all of them to match the rest of the car and fitted a front splitter which they also painted, they car looks great and the paint job looks good.
hope this answers that question

1} not a bad price, depending on condition and history.
2} cant remember what they are new, 350 ish i think, you could sell them on at the rite price.
3} It would have had 2 pot sliding calipers as standard, the four pots are a good cheap mod, the discs will be bigger than std at 285 mm.
4} These can be sprayed, i think these were a factory option in 96, although i stand corrected.
5} Same as above, factory option on 96 or add on part. the decent abs plastic splitters/ lower spoilers are around 200 quid pluss painting.
6} yes.
7}
Keep the lights and put a red bulb into one of the reverse lights!

Ok, I have now sorted a car and I should have it by next weekend.
Its not the one mentioned above as this one is less money and in better condition.
Its a 1998 WRX in mica blue with a "zero sports tripple 5" performance package. What the hell is a "zero sports tripple 5" performance package?
Paying £7000 for it hopefully. It has no immobilser or alarm fitted. Has anyone got any recommendations as to which to have fitted?
Also what tyres suit the scoob best with 17 rims?

Sounds nice.....enjoy.
Can't help with the Zero sports thingy, but recommended tyres on here are either Goodyear F1 GSD3, or Toyo Proxes T1S, both in 215/40 17" with 17's.
The Goodyears are the best, with Toyos a close second. Expect to pay £110 per corner. And have 'em fitted by a place you trust: they are NOT easy to fit, and I watched mine go on, so I know. A good tyre place will look after the tyre and the wheel.
