Dont say that, ive got the V5 R (ref rebuild)
Theoreticly, the R as its lower geared, top speed dosnt come into it IMHO, although that would be on 100RON fuel.
At the end of the day i wouldnt think theres much in it.
Why worry

Mine a WRX Limited RA has a final drive of 19.7mph/1000 rpm. IIRC it was an option on the higher final drive or not. There dont seem to be any hard and fast rules as some LTDs have the higher and some have the lower. Most I have seen have the lower 19.7mph/1000 rpm. JohnFs RA LTD had the higher and I think he fitted the lower.

Rev limiter is 8,250 so gives a top speed of about 160.

Type-R will blowup first.
Type-R with remap will reach 112 mph first (and so on until it runs out of revs).
P1 won't blow up with normal UK SUL petrol and driving, though optimax helps.

>120mph eventually they'll both blow up.

Get either and play on A & B roads = great fun!

Vindaloo.

Surley a Scooby would have ran out of petrol before it had the chance to max out at 150mph then blow up?

Does it really matter - if you like either do a pro/cons check then drive both then decide..or as stated before read FAQ..

Cool

There's very little in it, but the sti has faster acceleration, and the P1 has higher top end. They have the same engine, but the gearing is shorter on the sti. P1 has ABS though, so getting back down from 160mph should be slightly quicker (or at least easier ). The sti also has a water spray intercooler, so theoretically will produce more power in hot weather.
Both cars are awesome, but you'll probably get a newer model in the STI for the same money. The sti is also more fun in the wet, as it has more rear wheel power bias as standard (but this can be adjusted).

HTH

Peccy are you sure thats right. I was under the impression that all the Type-R's had the same gear ratios. Anyone tested this?

judging by the large number of type r owners on here, there must be a whole stack of them in the uk now, anyone estimate how many have come in? must be starting to push the P1 for numbers. perhaps we need a type r corner?

i love mine, now it has gauges and i have researched it well i am so glad i went for the type r, saved myself £4k even with all the mods.

go get one forget the top speed and feel the slide!!
