Anyone got any ideas how to stop thieving scum
from nicking my clear indicators?

Can't afford £70 every time someone fancies a set
without paying!

Not the best design having the bolts on the outside

Suppose you could put the OE orange indicators back in!

One possible solution could be to replace the standard self-tappers and retaining clips with some machine screws and nyloc/metaloc nuts. You'd need access to the back of the bumper to hold the nut while it was being tightened, but you could get that either via removing the wedge, or loosening the bumper liner.

Once in place, any attempt to remove the screw without having a spanner on the nut would result in both turning together, hence no quick removal.

Bit worrying to think that these are being nicked on a repeated basis though - how many sets have you lost?

I thought about this when I changed mine. I also moved my number plate, but to remove the mounting bracket I had to buy some TORX security heads to get the bloody bolts out. If you could find some TORX security bolts to replace the bolts holding the indicators in, I think we'd be on a winner.

Questions is, does anyone know where we can get TORX security bolts ? Group buy anyone ?

Screwfx Direct sell 'em, as will any reputable bolt and nut stockist. You may even get 'em in Stainless, and the bit for removal is about £9.99 a set.(item No D18983-71)

Latest Screwfix catalogue has 'em in an A2 stainless pin hex button head machine screw.
Can't remember what size, but M6x16: £1.50,(D11931-71) M6x25: £1.75,(D13323-71) and M8x40: £3.99,(D11446-71) all prices are for 10.
Don't forget that on orders under £40, you pay £4.50 postage!, so a search for a local stockist would be cheaper: try www.yell.com.

Same thing happen to me about 7 months ago, so I'm loathe to replace them. The security bolts sound like a good idea, but I don't fancy glueing the repeaters in.

Thanks for all suggestions, only one set lost so
far as I persuaded g/f to let me use her garage.
Trouble is she wants it back now that the weather
aint so good!

Probably try to find some security bolts first and
failing that, the loctite. Just hope the bulbs last
a few years so I dont have to get them out again!

Fill the heads of the screws with Araldite(sp) after youve tightened them up, then leave it to set. They cant get the screws out then because the driver wont go into the recess, but the problem is niether can you.

Torxs screws seem to be the best idea up to now, but I bet the ******* will have a Torxs bit in thier tool kit.

If you etch or engave the lens with your reg then they cant sell them, and probably wont bother knickin them. Its a pain, but what else is there.

After a break in at my house, I was given a security pack by a help group, who get in touch with you when your a victim of crime. In the pack there was a permanent UV marker, they say you should mark up all youre expensive electrical items with it, so I did.

Its invisable until you pass a UV light over it, brilliant.

Even better when you go to your local night club and youve written "Im a tosser", on the back of your mates shirt.
