I was quite suprised to see the new age STi's running 14 odd second 1/4 miles yesterday.
What was the quickest new age of the day though???
Were any of you runing PPP and what did you achieve?

I tried to get on track but they shut the bloody sign on both argh!
Anyhow I too was shocked to see a STi8 Type UK with a Pro-drive exhaust if not PPP running 14.5 ish for the quarter ??
Is this about right, or did he leave the handbrake on?

Thats a good run wrrjones ..... i didnt see you go I dont think.
I ran a 13.2 at 107 the last time I was there but I didnt go on this time. I havent got ppp I have used a cheaper route to gain a few more BHP.
I'm still to be convinced how good PPP cars are. Not sure how many of the STi8's which ran yesterday had PPP though.

Andy I think it will depend where you take it for the RR run.
Im not saying they arent fast coz they are but there didnt seem to be any running that quick at the pod yesterday .....
wrrjones ....what spec is your car? That is a quick time for a standard car if it is?

what do the prodrive figures say for a 1/4 mile time?
STi8 PPP that is, I thought it was in the 13's ???
I have some back tracking to do I thinks, my mate as an Escort Cossie running 310 bhp and he ran the quarter in 13.2, now I assumed that as my STi8 PPP has 300BHP I would be somewhere around this figure if not quicker DOH!!
humble pie, munch munch munch LOL!

On Prodrive's web site... the standing qtr for a standard MY03 STi is 13.99, for one with PPP its 13.44... and these numbers should be repeatable if you read the blurb that goes with them.

I thought someone said the STi8 PPP was 0-100mph in 12.2 secs LOL!
is that of a cliff?
Before everyone starts stating how its around twisties, and in the wet bla bla bla to be quite honest I was looking forward to doing a few drag days as there's little chance of me smashing it up doing that, where as going around bends too quick for my ability tends to have a negative effect on the bodywork
14.5 secs, umh? back to the drawing board

Prodrive's numbers ....
0-60 5.17 4.62
0-100 13.69 12.2
std-qtr 13.99 13.44
(1st number without ppp, 2nd with ppp)
... and to quote the blurb...
'The performance figures reproduced below were derived during testing at Prodrive's proving ground, using their mile straight to accurately reproduce the dynamic environment that customers' cars will operate in but under controlled, repeatable conditions.'
Anyone able to repeat these numbers yet without having their car running on fumes, loads of OB, the spare wheel sitting on the side of the track and some 7 stone jockey driving the thing? lol

I have a vcd with the STi 7 RA doing a standing 1/4 in 12.3 and thats a standard car, so the non RA should be able to squeeze out more than a 14.
For any version 7/8 owners, what launch revs are you using?? For every 1/10th made at the start its worth double down the end....

We saw quite a few new age cars run yesterday - mostly high 13 to low 15 seconds. Someone told me that a PPP STi 7 ran a 15.1 - but I'm not sure if that's a reliable source. The MPH at the end of the 1/4 is a good indicator of actual bhp - the ET is more of an idea of how well the car hooks up over the 0-60 feet marker really.
400bhp STi 7 ran 12.3 @113 mph, with a crap driver - me. Another silver bug-eye WRX with 330 bhp (and a shagged clutch) ran 13.9 @ around 100 mph. Maybe the track was slow? Have a look at this months Jap Performance or Banzaii.
Haven't seen any PPP STi cars make the numbers quoted - though the PPP wrx seems to be about right.

You gotta remember that for many people, they run to enjoy themselves, and not to muller their cars off the lines.

I ran a 13.2 107 mph in my STi8 with Trust Extreme exhaust and induction kit. Not yesterday though I did it at bug jam. There was a big headwind that day as well.
The biggest problem I found was that I really needed to be getting into 5th coz of the short gearing but that extra gear change mucked up the timings. Leave it in 4th and run slightly into the red gave the best timings.
As for getting off the line I was giving it around 4000 revs. Loads of people say give it 6000 and drop the clutch. I didnt wanna do that though, dont wanna kill the poor thing.
Anyway a 13.2 is good enough for me, wont do it again, too harsh on the car me thinks.

Quickest new age I have footage of is the East Street scoob which did 10.73 and hit 135mph.
If someone would like to request the footage I will be glad to email it.
Then someone can post it for all to see.

That sounded like my times, STI8 PPP. My trouble is, My launch was crap on run 1 and 3(hence 15 secs) #2 run was good (14.1 secs). Although I was carrying a full tank of fuel and a lot of stereo equipment, so almost certain weight being a problem.
