Hi KimA,

Tried lots and lots of insurers a few months ago and had some quotes ranging from £5K down to the cheapest at £1000.63 with AXA Direct.

Admiral are a complete bunch of bar stewards. They wanted an extra £700 quid even though I didn't have any claims, hadn't got any younger and hadn't moved to a war zone.

AXA Direct were great for me due to them taking into account my years as a company car driver - they gave me 2 extra years no-claims. They also assurred me that I'd get my full 5yrs no-claims at the end of this year and can takes this away if I change insurers.

The only down side is they didn't have the WR Sport RB5 on record (although this may have changed) and wouldn't accept any mods (though I'm working on this).

Try searching for my Username as I posted all the insurance details at the time.

Good luck,
Stefan

Thumbs up

Thanks Stefan, I'll give AXA a go.

Admiral are really mucking us around. We pick up the car this Friday - last week they quoted us an extra £90 on top of the current insurance and are now trying to take this back, they're now not so sure, and we've got 2 days to go. Definitely bar stewards. As far as I'm concerned they've given us our quote and they can stick to it!!

Rgrds & thx

Last year I got cover with NU for £750, this year same spec, cover, full NCD etc they quoted £1,034.

I have gone with Barclays Insurance at £950. Still seems a lot.

Just for interest I got a quote for a standard RB5 of £600.

Admiral decided this morning to decline our insurance!! We pick up the car tomorrow - great!! However, spoke to one of the managers and told them that they should honour their quote from last week of an additional £91 on top of what we are currently paying, and that if not we were going to be contacting the Insurance Ombudsman (amongst many others) and would be taking this much, much further! It worked!!! However, can only begin to imagine what the premium will be for next year, but AXA Direct who we also contacted will keep us on their records (they offered £933).

NU quoted £1300, and gave up with Barclays.

So it worked out at £890 - 29yrs old, full NCB (wonder if they'll treat us better when we're 50?)

So all I can say is that the last laugh's on Admiral - about time they were brought down a peg or two, bar stewards!

Thanks to all of you - we'll get these insurers yet!

Stephan and KimA

I have just tried AXA direct, they refused to even quote on the WRSport, as did NU direct. How did you get a quote didn't you tell them that the WRSport included engine mods?

Barclays sent me this quote via E-mail:
PREMIUM £940.00
(including insurance premium tax)

PREMIUM INCLUDING PREMIER COVER £998.00
(including insurance premium tax)
includes following additional
benefits:

UK Breakdown Recovery
Uninsured Loss Recovery
European Cover for up to 35 days

POLICY EXCESS £100

COVER Comprehensive

VEHICLE Subaru Turbo RB5 Prodrive

NO. OF DRIVERS 1

I chose to take the standard cover at £940. I duly received the documents through the post to find they have charged me £998. I rang them to be told that the policy offers the same cover as my current policy and that that was the terms of their offer, but my current insurance does not include Breakedown Recovery etc. They refused to give me the cover they quoted so I cancelled, what a con. So beware Barclays Insurance!!!
