You dont get points.
You get a £30 fine each time a jobsworth pulls you. If he takes a photo of it and sends it off to the DVLA, which they dont always do, you get three chances then the plate is confiscated. But Ive spoke to a number of coppers and they have never heard of this happening.
Usual reaction to a none DVLA friendly plate :-
No1..Normal copper - Turn of head and raised eyebrow, and away he goes to catch real criminals.
No2..Board Copper - Pulled over and asked to take the plate off, and replace it with a DVLA conformist plate.
No3..Jobsworth - £30 fine and producer.
No4..Fcukin Pond Life - £30 fine, photo, and producer.
Later Yoza, who has met loads of No1's, a few No2's, no No3's, and two No4's.

Mal, your right.
But surely you dont need to ask why someone would want a none readable plate.
Dont ask me, Im going out at 9 bells, and thats not enough time to enlighten you!

Why not just leave the thing standard and stop wasting police time?
Sorry, but I just don't get it.
If you want to be 'individual' go and get a tattoo, piercing or something.
Suresh,
Rapidly putting on flame suit and hood

Have never been stopped yet for small front plate. Coppers usually behind me (normal back plate) and can't turn around quick enough and catch me up if they see my front plate while going the opposite way to me

i heard that because there is no aperture for a plate on the front bumper you can have any size, but hey dont believe everything you hear...
i have a slightly smaller plate and have never been pulled (oohheeerrrmissus)

I thought you could have small number plates on imports
still ever seen the big big trucks coming in from <sp> portgual ? their rear plates are very very small, black letters on red background, very hard to see & even worse to read
Still whats at 40 foor truck compared to a bad boy scooby

You can if the law's an *** Les !!
Perhaps we should just lock anyone away who drives or has anything to do with cars because they must be criminals, hey?
**** the burglars, muggers, rapists and murderers - far too difficult to catch them !!
[rant over] Feel much better for that

(which have a restricted space for a standard sized number plate)
Certain imported vehicles may be permitted to display number plates with smaller characters if:
The vehicle does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval
AND
The vehicle's construction/design cannot accomodate standard size number plates
Specifications for smaller sized plates (for certain imported vehicles):-
Character Height - 64mm
Character Width - 44mm
Character Stroke - 10mm
Space between characters - 10mm

I have got a front plate the same size as Jakes, but got pulled over last sunday. I was given a ticket that allows 14 days for me to fit legal plates (front and rear) that are the right size and proper font. Didnt get a fine though, although i did get a producer. Just waiting for the new plates to arrive, will fit them, then got to take the car to an MOT centre to get the ticket stamped. Just gonna fit them with velcro for now though and leave the others underneath

One guy I know with a Scoob actually drives around with NO front no plate, if he gets stopped, which is never!!, he has the plate in the car, and says it just fell off, and he's on the way to get some new fixings!!
God know's how he gets away with it, but I've never seen his car with a front plate, and I've known him well over a year!!

I had one made up with the new style font but had the white / yellow cut down close to the numbers / letters.
It has no manufacturer details on it - from memory I cut 10-20 mm off the height and about 50mm off each end.
The Police station my missus works at say its legal because the lettering size / spacing is correct.

Noooo not this old chestnut again!!
This board would contain 4 questions a month only if it was down to originality.
If everybody was made to do a search on entering Scoobynet you wouldn't be quite so tedious.
p.s Can you run an Impreza turbo on 95 ron?

See:
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/regm...quirements.htm
It gives all the dimensions - but as far as I know you can still cut the plate down aslong as you have the correct spacings and margins.
