Hi all
I'd like to ask can any1 recommend having a lightweight flywheel fitted? are they worth changing? I will be having my gearbox out soon for a new set of gears from rally used parts and while its off im considering a lighter flywheel.
So basically is there a performance gain? i've heard a poss 20 BHP or are they talking round their hat?!
If you have changed, where did you get it and how much!
Thanks all!!

20hp from a lightened flywheel ![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)

i think someone has been talikin bolox
lightened flywheel will make the clutch feel lighter AFAIK - i very much doubt it will give you 1 bhp let alone a 20 bhp power increase
FWIW, i had a lightened flywheel fitted at the same time as my AP clucth - cant comment on the flywheel alone but my clucth is now very light and very effective with regards to hard starts
chris
edited to add: TSL and it was £80 plus my old one for reconditioning - the bill for fitting was included in the clutch replacement.

I recently went to roger clark motorsport and had AP organic clutch, their lightened flywheel (5.5kg compared to 11), plus the lightened ally billet pulleys.
Highly recommended. Clutch feels very light and user friendly while still capable of taking 500bhp. Lightened flywheel and pulleys mean much quicker pickup and boost starts earlier at around 2500rpm instead of 3000- thats probably why people think their is a power increase. I still have a constant tick over but can change gears quicker due to revs coming down quicker.
I cant recomend this too much as an upgrade......

the one thing i really want to know
is
does a lighter flywheel improve a 1/4 mile time
i uderstand it makes u think its quicker as the car will rev easier, but does it make it faster in real terms?
