I just love impreza, but being only 18, i cant afford a 2l turbo!

I know u can get old 1.6 imprezas. Do you know if there is a body kit to make it look like a p1? As it is this car that just looks awsome.

Also do you know the engine stats on one? are the 1.6 4wd?

Has any1 eva done a lookalike scooby? Any help the better!!

or has anyone got one for sale?!?!?

You can find the specifications here
The main cosmetic difference would be the air intake on the bonnet.
You may be able to pick up one second hand from the for sale board, or from a car breakers.
There are loads of companies producing body styling.

Good luck

to make it look like a P1 would be quite difficult as they are 2 door ...

to make it look like a standard turbo, I would imagine u just need a turbo bonnet, recaro style seats, high level spoiler and your almost there (bar little things like bumpers, colour coded bits possibly etc..)

I’m 19 and have had my Impreza 1.6GL since 17. It really isn’t a sensible car to have at our age, but if you really must, read on!

The 1.6s do come in AWD, but only as 5 doors I believe, that’s what I’ve got, but you’ll never get it looking identical to a P1! I think the 1.8GLs were saloon and AWD, also the few imported 1.5s that are around may be too. As far as I know they’ve never made non turbo 2 door Imprezas, so you’re not going to get a P1 lookalike I’m afraid. You could have it looking like a Turbo or even an STi if you have the £s to spend though. You’ll either have to buy the bits from Subaru (in which case you’d be spending enough to buy a genuine P1 ), or find the bits 2nd hand through Scoobynet’s For Sale/Wanted forums or breakers.
If you do mod it, I’d suggest you get your insurance from Liverpool Victoria or CIS as mods wont affect your premium there and they’re probably the cheapest in the first place anyway.

See parkers site for performance figures. You’re not going to be very impressed by the 1.6’s figures I’m afraid. I’ve driven a 2.0GL which feels much quicker, I still have fun in mine though and with decent tyres (Toyos on mine now) and the suspension geometry done, you’ll wipe the floor ‘in the twisties’ with a lot of cars. Perhaps a 1.8 would be a good compromise – that’s what I’d look for if I was getting another, I think they’re rarer but only 1 insurance group higher and the performance figures are a little less embarrassing.

If you’d want to mod it to give more power, Scoobysport, TSL and Magnex (and quite possibly others) all do stainless de-cat exhausts for normally aspirated Imprezas, panel filters and induction kits are available too I believe. I don’t have either on mine so can’t tell you what gains you’d get. After that I’m not sure where you could go, I’d be a bit wary of chips or ECU remaps as I guess it’s pretty unlikely to have been done many times before. I’d guess the 1.6 engine is likely to be up to handling some power though, I believe in Greece (or somewhere in the Med anyway) they do/did turbo’d 1.6s outputting ~180+bhp, to get round tax laws.

1.6 Thread is a thread we had on here a while back that I’ve just managed to find via search. Pics of mine on there too.

Have a look in/on the autotrader for ideas on price, you do get a lot of car for the money, but you’re going to be paying through the nose for insurance, also more than average on petrol and tax.

Sorry not written that very well or in a sensible order, bit tired after the treck back from the rally . Post again if you’ve any other questions.

Cheers,

Ben
