****s sake, i couldnt read this thread no longer so i signed up.
your first arguement, jelousy... bull****, yes some 17yr old goons might be jelous cos like u they are sheep who here a blitz and jizz in the pants. people a bit older, i.e half of yc aint jelous cos if they wanted one, they would buy one.
reliablility.... im with timrud on this one, i know a lot of people with scoobbys and eveyone i know has had to buy a box or clutch... maybe this seems extreme to u? the people i know do nail there cars but to quote unclebuck
"a WRC winning design not good enough?" - obviously not, unless ur a mid life crisis man who buys a subaru t shirt and goes to subaru meets and thinks there a hero.
A turbo scoob bears far more resemblence to a gl 1.8 than a WRC car.
jonny gav..... "if you look at value for money/performance nothing gets close to a scoob."
value for money? most cars are better value for money than a scoobys cos running costs are ridiculas,
performance for money? have u never herd of a cosworth?
DJ WATTS -
"What gets me is the fact that peoples jealousy can extend to a level that is anti social and degrading!
I recvently had my car door dented on purpose by a couple of little boys in a nova that obviously were jealous as hell!
They opened there car door full pelt into the side of my car door costing me £170's worth of damage!
Hell i would like a porsche or a ferrari but you dont see me taking the pizz out of them or doing things hurtfull to their cars?
Immature actions of the jealous youth is NOT to be tolerated!! "
all i can say to you is -![](http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/653/yourprob_is_obvious.jpg)

The young 'uns like flamer kits as its a cheap way of reheating their McDonalds meal..... infact, I'm so rude - can you get flamer kits on vauxhall nova's anyway?
Me, personally I use it for keeping the curry warm![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

It's just jealously. Ignore them! There's a couple of 'nice' (i.e. decent spec on paper) cars in their Staff collection. The Regulars cars are (mostly) just teenie/Max'd cars. It's a phase many of use went through, they'll grow out of it. Hopefully.

j_p_h: I've no idea. Why do you ask? Are you associated with the above mentioned website?
My comment was related to the fact that Imprezas, especially modified ones, are (financially) beyond the reach of many young people. Hence the 'Max Power' effect of modifying cars in ways that don't incur heavy additonal insurance costs. There are many such cars on the above website. When I was younger and driving a lower-spec (and more affordable) car, I was certainly jealous of Impreza drivers. Running a modified car was beyond my hopes at that point.
You're right though - it's easy to slip into the "best on the road" mentality. Standard Imprezas certainly aren't faster than everything out there. PPP helps, but it's certainly not a quick route to owning the fastest car on the roads. Personally, I quite fancy a TVR next. Although I've not tried an Evo, so it would be rude not to give it a shot, wouldn't it

I see what you mean fatman.
It's only recently on websites such as the above all this scooby slating has started. A few older ones have mentioned that they dont like the impreza and the younger ones have jumped on the band wagon. I take part in this scooby bashing lol even though i owned one up untill last week, i only do it to wind the likes of peccy up on there i like them really or i wouldnt have owned one for one and a half years. Back to a cossie again now where i belong the fast taxi mobile
.
Fancy a RS500 next the daddy of all cars never really fancied an evo.

On the 'other car' train of thought - I got some quotes for 911s the other day. Interesting that, say, a 1990 Carerra-2 would cost me no more to insure than my modded Impreza! Hmmm... Cerbera or 911 Carerra? Choices, choices... All in good time. I'm going to enjoy the Impreza for a few more years yet.

A point about the jealousy please....
I never have and never will be jealous of an imprezza, and I'm sure j_p_h and peccy pecker box will back me up LOL So don;t tar any group of people with the same brush.
I suppose I've been fortunate to learn off my mates mistakes. All of them have had one, and I've had a drive of them all, and spend enough time been driven in one. Thankfuly I learnt they are not the car for me.
Gradualy though, the tide is turning and people are learning. It seems that when the box goes its time to get rid. j_p_h for the cos, icys box has gone, reckon he will get sick and tired of his soon (plus the fact its value is sinking faster than the titanic). Peccy pecker box also got rid of his. Unfortunentally for a slightly more fun, and hugely more unreliable sti jap import. Maybe he hasn't learnt yet LOL![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Peccy summed it all up yesterday "My old UK 2000 was too safe, too slow and too unreliable" *hears noise of peccy rushing to edit his post* lol![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
And a quick point about young uns'. To be fair I could pick an old scoob up for dirt cheap. OK some will be dogs, but there is a lot of them out there, and eventually some numpty will be selling a good car cheap. And the insurence is only Group 17. Not like all its rivals which sit at the hefty group 20. So its not some supercar that sits elusivly beyond a lot of peoples reach as you may like to believe!

good post mick ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
mark- a lot of it is jelousy from people that would love one if they could aford one! the rest are cossie owners that don't know any better than going in a straight line!( ex- cossie owner here
)
in my mind the whole"evo is better" thing doesn't wash at all,i drove an evo5 and then a scoob before choosing the scoob!
if you look at value for money/performance nothing gets close to a scoob.
and yes, your car is a thing to be proud of, don't let anyone take that away![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

What gets me is the fact that peoples jealousy can extend to a level that is anti social and degrading!

If I wanted to spend the rest of my life being average, just another car in the same crowd, and a bit of an anonymus existance, my next car would be a scoob. I know what i'd get, an ok all round package.
I'm not of that belief though. I'd rather take a gamble on a car with more potential for power, more outrageous when driving, and push the limits a bit further. Next car is a RWD cos for me....
Micky can I have a Christmas card this year please![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
whats the point in potential if your not going acheive it???
i had a RWD cos and it was the most unreliable car i have ever owned (engine, dif, gearbox, clutch, driveshafts) all went wrong within 6 months of ownership!!!
in my opinion cossies are massively over rated!
prepare for disappointment(thats if you ever get one

Your car must of been a nail then mate, no offence...
Out of all the lads I know with scoobs...
P1 (W-Reg)- Full engine rebuild.
UK 2000 (P-Reg)- One gearbox, about 4 clutches and a blowing exhaust manifold.
UK 2000 (P-Reg)- Dodgy air con, gearbox gone.
UK 2000 (X-Reg)- 3 or 4 clutches, one mullered gearbox, and the other well gone when the car was sold. Turbo knakered.
UK 2000 (X-Reg) - Diff and turbo.
Only one person I know with one who has had no major problems is a lad with a W-Reg...
That record speaks for itself. They are odern newish cars, these things shouldn't be happening!
A cos is 13 years old approx (depending on year), you expect niggly things to go wrong on them...

yeah but that argument is a bit daft
out of me and my mates
1 clutch on a uk car
1 standerd dump valve on a jdm import (mine)
1 standerd clutch on another uk car (over 70k miles to be expected)
mates cossies
1 nigh on full engine re build cos it blew up
no more cos none of my mates bought one lol
tim u can have a card but it will be a second hand one that i receaved last year from your momma

Hang on a minute, isn't this SCOOBYNET ????
Surely if you don't love Scoobs, you should p155 off??
Oh and btw, gearbox/clutch probs will always be an issue with 4wd cars, cos some people drive them like **** (6,000 rpm launches anyone??)

Renault 5 GT Turbo (x3) All V Unreliable, spent more time being repaired than on the road (Inc New Ones!)
Cossie 2WD Unreliable, fast in straight, tasty fishtails for tea!
Cossie 4WD 300bhp Most unreliable Car I ever owned, just gave up in the end when it couldn't drive past a garage without 500 quid in repair bills so swapped for:
Scoob Turbo - Faultless
Another Scoob Turbo - Faultless
then MY03 STi8 PPP - will be faultless & way faster in every way than the comparable cossie.
So Been Max Power, now know better
