My Type R is running on 215/35/18. Car is on Leda B's which lower the car about 35-40mm and it handles better than my previous Type R on standard suspension with 17's on. Oh yes and with no rubbing.

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
is a 18inch wheel with 225/35/18 tyre too big for a type R?
as the car is quite low as standard with a firm suspension setup, was wondering if i should settle for 17s with a higher profile tyre?

You might get away with it.
I was running my RA on 225 35 18s, and it didn't rub except at Castle Combe with my rather substantial mate in the passenger seat. Ride height was slightly lower than standard on coilovers.

Well I guess it also depends on suspension set up.
It also depends what you mean by 'handles better' If it gets knocked across the road every time you hit a bump then it will not handle better. Big wheels are great on smooth roads, not on bumpy ones in my opinion.![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Quote "I would go for 215/45R17 They look good and the car is still driveable. "
Are these really better than 205 or 215 /40 17's??
Opinions please as I need to buy soon and can't decide. It's not for everyday use so will be used quite hard when I do get to use it![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Cheers

Ahhhh well that explains it, standard suspension and 18" wheels would be tolerable. (maybe
)
Newera are very good, I know Miguel personally. He picks awesome cars. We also source them but through Miguel.

Trust me I have 215/40R17's and I find them too hard. Once worn out I will be going for 215/45R17's. I am a bit of an old woman though.
