I was given the opportunity to drive a '96 STi Type RA yesterday (first ever shot of a Scooby), my mate told me it has 300BHP. My car is a Leon Cupra which has around 220BHP just now, so I was keen to find out what 300BHP and 4WD felt like by comparison. I've always admired Scooby's, so off I went with my mate saying "don't be afraid to give it some".

What can I say, apart from WOW! It felt like a ballistic missile and covered ground at an incredible rate - quite astonishing really! Now I know why you guys love your Scoobs so much - I think I left my spline somewhere on a country road during that drive.

Yes the interior is poor, suspension is hard but when the engine sounds like a jet aircraft taking off you kinda forget that, seats were good, very 'huggy'. I'm assuming that newer Scoobys have better interiors than a '96 RA?

The RA is a bit of a stripped out rally car isn't it, roof vent etc.? It would make an awesome trackday car.

Now I fancy buying one after that drive!!!!!!!!!!
