hi all, i just bought a my01 wrx which i am really pleased with, but when i realised i didnt pick up the service book, i called the garage where i bought it to see what was up, so they said they had it there and would send it to me, so i decided being a detective i called up where the car originated from, and subaru uk to find a little problem. The car was first registered 10/01 so it has best part of 1 year left on warranty, i was told when it was sold it had fssh, which in effect it has, however this is what the main dealer told me
it was first serviced at 1000, then 7500, then 20,000 as it was changed to 10k service intervals on this car, however the 7.5k service was done 6 months early so the 20k service wasnt done till 18months after the 7.5k service.
So when i phoned subaru uk, they told me that it was negligable as to if i had an engine claim, they would cover it or not, they would have to look into it.
Now i paid best part of 14k for this car, it has some nice extras im happy with it, but i paid for peace of mind and warranty, what do i do? the dealer said i can have my money back, but its a shining example and i do love it, so i asked him to cover the engine under warranty for the rest of the year and he wouldnt do it, said he would rather have his money back. I am a little unsure really....any suggestions would help??
thanks

Will have to check my service book when I get home cos I swapped to the 10k intervals and I am sure that I managed to miss/delay 1 service.
I only swapped on recommendation by my dealer mind you.

sorry i thought this was scooby general? thanks anyway, well apparently the main dealer who supplied and serviced the car said they rec this was ok also, however im sure they wont put that in writing, and also i thought best to double check with sub uk, and as i expected, it could be a problem, this guy that i bought it from said hes gonna double check with subaru that what i said is correct, no doubt we will have two different sets of information that wont match up, ill see what comes of it, shame really cos i do like the car, but i just dont think its worth the risk, after all thats why u pay more money isnt it? so you get rights when u buy from a dealer
thanks

IMO it should have had the 10K service at 15k and then every 10k after that. The 10k service is not much different from the old 15k.
Many people will tell you that oil changes on Turbo cars are very important, so 50% over manufacturer recommended interval is well OTT.
I'd take his offer if I were you and find a better serviced example.
