Question

Maybe a bit of a touchy subject, but without the massive air scoop and vents on the bonnet, big spoiler, wicked interior, the sweet sweet sound of the turbo spinning away in that " aircraft about to take off sound!!", the beautiful noise that the boxster engine makes purrrrring away and that ohh my god how F#@kin fast is this car!!!! A sport is sadly lacking!!!

i ran one for 2 years. It's a brilliant car that does a better job alround compared to the alternatives out there. Not everyone wants a 300BHP monster as their daily driver.

"Brilliant runner", Yeah, but so is my sisters nissan micra, Scoobs were invented to win rallies, not to run your granny to the supermarket..

I was thinking along those lines, there are sports for sale with all the turbo kit, seats bonnet etc! and they corner almost as well, so thought, i dont need a turbo, all that high running costs etc. but then though, yes i do!!!

So how many rallies have you won in yours, assuming you have one?

BTW, Subarus were running granny to the supermarket a long time before they won any rallies. They were running sheep to the market too, come to think of it...

Sports are great cars. You can drive em flat out everywhere (well nearly ) Easiest car to drive I have ever driven, excellent tow car and brilliant in the snow.
They are not a turbo and they should not be compared.

For every RS500 cossie there are 1000's of 1.8GL Sierra
For every Porsche there is are... 924's
For every BMW M3/M5 there is a 316 compact or 520
For every Skyline GTR there is a GTS

These cars exist because there is a damand for them, usually the demand for base models is higher than the "specials"

Not everyone wants a turbo!!!!

I moved from a Saab 900 turbo to a scooby..

at the time given the need to change quickly the gl was the only model avaiable,,,

yes i miss the turbo and the bhp drop, but as i never had a wrx or sti p1 etc i cant complain.

when wifey sells her car and takes the wagon off me,, i will then look to going back to a turbo....

will it be a scooby though???

All this concern about running costs, when you opt for a turbo you accept the fact its gonna cost. The reason you drive one is the pure delight of owning one of the cheapest and fastest road cars available to the working man. Until you've owned a turbo you can't comment on the "Driving thrill" you get! Scoobynet is not for sport drivers, Tesco.co.uk is more for "sport" friendly..IMOA..

PMSL

You only have a UK turbo and you are lecturing people on how they should discount the Sport. Oh that's class.

I think you need a reality check mate, the last thing i need is a ride in a UK Turbo.

You need a ride in mine to realise what a pile of poo you are talking. You havnt got a clue. LOL
