Why do they use JDM STi 7's, rather than the UK STi 7 PPP?

Well apart from the fact they are lighter and have more power

Are they C-specs?

Exclamation

David,

If I recall correctly they were STi7 Type "C's" not STi7JDM's They were then rally prepared by Prodrive, to Group 'N' spec

When those cars were made I think they could be bought of the self from Prodrive at around £84,000

Several reasons we used JDM 01MY STi cars as the basis for the Prodrivelive cars

We wanted them to be as similar to the Group N car as we could at the time

No UK STi was available (the first are 02MY and hence an STi 8!!!)

We wanted a passive car (ie with 'normal' diffs) so they are easy to drive without spending ages in the car. Hence no front LSD.

They aren't Spec C, they aren't lighter than a UK car and they aren't more powerful than a UK car with a Perf Pack. They have basically the same mapping as a UK STi PPP

Lightbulb

That explains the lack of the 'front end pulling the back end' factor when driving them round the track on Saturday...

I thought I was going mad

Thanks Mike

I stand corrected As usaul, got it completely wrong Doh, well got the Picture right so not toooo bad LOL

I did notice driving them, Prodrivelive car's were lower geared to the UK's, which did seem to make it feel more powerful than my STi7PPP. They did take some getting used to, some nutter had disconnecterd the Brake servo this was explained at the Breifing, to stop inexperienced peeps slamming on the brakes on and then sliding into Armco.

Mike big thanks for the driving me around, you were so entertaining, you made those japs video's look very boring percission driving at it's best

Thanks for the reply's everyone.

For those that have been. Comments please.

I read the report a few months back in the SIDC mag, it sounds good, but it's quite a distance from up here, so it'll have to be very good

Thumbs up

David,
Really depends on what you wan't out of the day If your after a intensive driver Training coarse you may be a bit disappionted but you are Coached by some very good instructors and you will have fun
These 'Prodrivelive' half days are split between "off road" Jeep and STi's Rally stage. I personally enjoyed the Jeep more than the STi's, sad aren't I. They also do Corperate full days, which do Skid pan and High speed training and Sti Rally section.

Owning Subaru's and done 13 Trackdays and done the Warwick Rally section twice before Prodrivelive was never going set my world alight. Saying that I still did really enjoy it

My boyhood dream is Ferrari's, when I was doing a Trackday at Donny a guy there took me around in his 355 we did 5 laps, did he drive fast, I don't know and didn't care, he just made an old man very very happy Everyone's face after the Rally section was very simular to mine after being in the 355

IMHO

David,
Shortened version Prodrivelive is a driving Subaru Rally car "Experience" day and not a Subaru Rally car driving course.

Tony
