Reg plates on the threads??
#1
A lot of people put the reg no on the various threads , is this not a bit risky with the ever increasing Scooby theft these days?
Having to pay some jokers speeding fine when it was committed at the other end of the country seems a bit strong!
just a thought , may be im paranoid??

Yeah, this has concerned me too. As good as this BBS is and other pages such as Adam Boltons, now Mark Otways owners pages are great BUT if I was into nicking Imprezas (which I am not!) it would not take long to find out where people live seeing as most people have put their surname and locations on the list.
I was able to find out what house and road another member of this BBS lived at.
Paranoid, maybe but the number of thefts is still steadily and scarily rising, how long before they come to an area near you???

Serious question:
Are private plates found to be any deterent at all to theft. ie a vehicle reg is more likely to be noted and memorised if it were something like 'PEN15' than 'M362PFK' as a silly example.
Any thoughts - or case studies?
Mick

That truck racing bloke, Steve Soper I think he's called, he had either PEN 15 or PEN 1S on a Merc SL a couple of years back. Please don't ask how I know this!
As for the issue of getting you motor nicked, surely knowing where to come and locate a Scooby is not going to aid its theft, they are parked all over the bloody place, all a tea leaf has to do is stop at the first one he sees.
Later.
David.
