Whislt driving home on Monday night i ran over what i thought was the remains of someones Mac Donalds on a road in Sheffield. It was dark and raining heavily so i thought nothing more of it until today.
I started washing the car this lunch time and to my horror realised it was white gloss paint all over the side of the car and not mud
![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
To top it on the way home last night some little tw@t launched and egg at the side of the car, the impact from the egg has blisterd the paint I tried to catch the little *******, but they legged it up an alleyway and dissapeared.
Im seriously pi$$ed off

does anyone know if there is anything available to remove the paint without removing the paint on the car if you get what i mean

Turps should get white gloss paint off- thats as long as its household paint??
Otherwise if your paint is metallic (ie coated with lacquer) get hold of some paint thinners from a factors / wholesaler this should do the trick.
NB always try a very small inconspicuous area first!
Cheers

Oh and a tip - what ever people tell you to try, test it on a bit you can't normally see (under side skirt) incase it messes up the paint.

Contact David Wallis, he seems to know about spraying cars etc. He may be able to advise a product you can use. I expect knowing what the paint is would help but you will not have that info.

Going back a few years ago now where I used to work someone was re-spraying white metal railings with gloss and didn't realise the wind was carrying the paint and dumping it all over my black car

I took it to a local valeting shop who after trying several cleaners found one that was meant to remove glue after fitting bodykits etc, and it lifted the gloss off easily.
Don't panic but get it doon sooner rather than later before the paint bonds to the car.
Nathan..

Try tar spot remover - I bought a bottle from Halfords once, and it's car paint friendly, but stroung enough to remove those blobs of tar and goo you can sometimes pickup off the road. Might do the job : if not, then anything strong enough to remove the white paint probably will remove the car paint as well !
Don't assume that Subaru use lots of coats of paint : they don't...

If all that fails try a clay bar like meguiars quick detailing kit..
I use it and it removes bonded on contaminants.

Gutted - I had exactly the same thing about a month ago on my old WRX, although I didn't have time to clean it off before it was p/ex'd against my new car (the dealer didn't say anything).
Try Swissol Cleaner Fluid (Fulham71 on here can supply it for you). Wonderful stuff it is

CEL, My son works in a body shop heres a few sugestions, He says a realy hot jet wash, some stuff called panel wipe apprantly its a degreaser, you can get the panel wipe from a car paint supplier, hope this helps
Cheers
Colin
The jet wash sounds funny but they had a car come into the bodyshop covered in emulsion paint and the hot jet wash worked after a few goes.

dont use t cut - it will bugger up the lacquer, Go to a body shop supplyer and ask for old touch up remover, it will only remove fresh paint if not rubbed on to hard.
good luck

Swissol cleaner fluid might sort the worst of it out - that and perhaps some claybar
Mail me offline and I'll send you some over from my demo kit.

i work in a body shop. lucky me. try using cellulose thinners or gun wash. this will take off the gloss paint but not he laquer on the ca. it will dull the paint slightly but a good t cut and wax will bring it back to like new. i have seen this before on a renault megane that had it thrown over the roof and it worked on that. e mail me if you get stuck mate

agree with above.. Id try gunwash first...
Autopaint international have a branch in sheffield..
Try it somewhere you cant see first and check it doesnt eat the lacquer.. use plenty of new rags..
Id first try white spirit, turps, homebase brush cleaner - carefull, gunwash, cellulose thinners..
I wouldnt try 2 pack thinners though..
rubbing compound, or a coarse polish might be needed to buff it up after.

Glad I got rid of my scooby recently....! I would be suicidal with that sort of damage!
I got egged once, severly chipped the paint in a circular pattern. I used chips away. Top job, u would never know it had been touched up!! I highly recommend them! Pretty cheap too! < £100.
