It may have been prepared and competed in Group N rallying...
Not especially likely. If it had, it'd show obvious evidence that a roll cage had been fitted, and wouldn't have overt "styling" touches like the Sparco pedals and "eyebrows" (aren't they those awful looking things that fit on top of the headlights?).

Sounds more like some rally fan's DIY custom job.

It may have been prepared and competed in Group N rallying...LOL would that make you feel better? I'd suggest you get in touch with Mike Wood at Prodrive and ask if he can shed any light? He sometimes visits these forums so may see this anyway.

As Chuck says, I would guess at some kind of competition preparation

Yeah I agree its a some rally fans custom DIY job - maybe the stamp got added when the gearbox was done (as this was the biggest job by the looks like it)

Also eyebrows are the plastic covers over the windows

Yep, a rallycar wouldn't have those.

As for the upper crossmember, is there any evidence of welding at the sides where it joins the chassis? The one thing I was wondering is whether the car's had a front-end shunt at some point in the past and a new one's been put in.

Either way though, even Prodrive prepared bodyshells use Subaru parts, and so don't usually have logos stamped on in this manner, meaning that wherever it came from, it's most likely to have been a third party.

Suely it wouldnt have the a/c pump if it was a rally prepared car.. nor a strut brace for group N, My guess that the prodrive stamp is there is because its an add-on by someone in Japan to make it look pretty... It used to say OXO on buses but they never sold any!

Sorry!!

Indeedy. Group N cars do have that strutbrace BTW, but I don't think anyone was trying to suggest it had actually been prepared for motorsport; I certainly wasn't.

Just looks like it was previously owned by a rally obsessed fanboy, and I suspect that therein lies the explanation for the Prodrive badge.

You have a "prodrive" badge on your car.

I have "**** star" on one of my T Shirts, but guess what, Im not a **** star.......

I once saw a Nova with a Ferrari badge on it, but it didnt fool me..
