I have a problem and I'm hoping someone could help:

I have anti-theft wheel nuts on my Impreza that were bought at Halfords.
I have had a puncture this weekend and can't remove my wheel due to the 'key' for the locking nuts has been damaged (presumably by the garage who last removed the wheels).
I can get a spare 'key' sent up to me (Halfords don't stock them anymore) but this will take 4-5 days which means that I'm now not able to use my car.

I know that this is a long shot....any chance that anyone in the Edinburgh/Lothian area bought anti-theft locking nuts from Halfords with a key code of 7G7 ? (it has that marked on the 'key' adapter)
If on the off-chance that you did....could I borrow yours for an hour or so to remove my wheel....if so I would be very grateful and would be happy to supply you with a nice bottle of malt!

Many thanks, Mike.

I can only hope this thread is a joke, if not I would suggest editing it straight away to remove your address, very easy for prospective thiefs to locate your car when you tell them where you live.

No worries Mike.

Thanks to the users who used the Report to Moderator facility to bring it to my attention so swiftly.

Not sure what the halfords locking wheel nuts look like... but you used to be able to buy a universal socket - basically it looked like a load of spring loaded pins on a quarter inch drive - the manufacturer claimed that it would fit all nuts...

A collegue had one and from what I remember I reckon it might get you out of a fix.. depending on the design of you wheel nut - just depends how many pins you can get to interlock.

Incidently on a previous pug that I owned I reckon the main dealer wrecked the locking wheel nut adaptor using an air wrench as only he and the tyre fitters had used it, and I watched the tyre fitters smear the threads with copper grease and use a torque wrench when refitting - so I reckon it wasnt them.... just goes to show that even main dealers can be cowboys - mind you pugs come with 2 adaptors.. when the 1st was no longer useable I bought a complete new set.
