Do you get charged import taxes etc on smaller stuff, i.e. fog light covers, emblems etc?? If so is there a way around it, i.e. say its a gift??

A few weeks ago I ordered a Throttle Position Sensor from Japan.
The cost of the part plus shipping was £38 (shipping almost as much as the part) EMS tracked.
The VAT was £5, and clearance £8.
Total £51
UK price for the same part £150![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
IMO it's worth a look, depending on the parts and/or whether it's an import.

Bought from Taka Kaira several times....
NO VAT, NO Import tax.
Its packaged as a "gift" with an invoice for an untaxable amount in it.
Never had to pay additional charges yet.
Just got a Blitz SUS Dump Valve for £200 all in.
£300 from UK suppliers.
