Turbo or non turbo?
Non turbo will be better on the fuel but will lack the performance. Looking at the fuel figures people quote, the turbo isn't much worse than my (soon to be replaced with MY00) Pug 206 GTi. I get about 270 miles from a £40 fuelling in that if I take it easy.
Have a search on fuel and mpg, plenty of threads.

If you can't get the insurance for a turbo then I assume you:
1) Are young (early 20's)
2) Have a few points
3) Have a bad claim record
Try Elephant.co.uk or Tesco, they are pretty good on Scooby insurance, but Tesco do like you to have a tracker (not a bad thing to have anyway). Also do a search on insurance as there seem to be a few other companies that people on here recommend.
The turbo will not be great on pottering about town, but if that's what you will be doing most of the time then having a 200+ bhp beastie seems a bit of a waste really.
The 2L Sport is solid dependable machine reading what others have said about it, maintains the handling and grip you would expect from AWD just lacking in the Ooomph department. Most of the hot hatches are quicker than the Sport but it all depends what you are after.

I would buy a turbo but my insurance company will not insure me on it. Best i can get is the 2L. See i will be useing it for work and spend most of my time in town so i dont want something that will kill me on the juice. But in saying that i want a scooby or something like it.
