My mates Scooby was pretty ordinary when he got it and sure enough after a few weeks, clutch slip became very noticable. Clutch was changed, and once that was done it flew. Clutch slip couldn't be detected when he got it, but it was obviously there to a lesser extent and was having some affect on the performance.

94 wrx will have 240 bhp i think from memory. Why not get it rolling roaded and find out. You can tune a car up to its proper specs if it isnt running right, without resorting to chips and things.

from memory mine was @ one point with sum boosting problems 266bhp and 259lbft of torque

your torque looks a touch slow and this will make the car slower

after sorting my problems out i managed to raise the power but not the torque (although the torqe was then spread out a lot smoother through the graph)

The fiat thing would likely be the coupe which is very fast from a rolling start and would keep up or even beat a 240bhp scooby

Hmm, I've got a MY93 WRX with 270-ish bhp and it's not slow at all (unless you compare it to something faster but a VR6 VW would never keep up with it in its current state.

Sounds to me like you have a problem.

...second the FIAT coupe vote by Saxo-Boy. 20VT has 220 bhp as standard and a nice, low drag co-efficient. Faster they go, the better they perform in comparison to scoobs, evos etc.

Not sure I could afford to run a Scoob AND a FIAT coupe. Be nice to have the choice in the mornings though

Maybe an obvious suggestion but...

an early WRX, now that would be an import, right? Do you know if it's been re-mapped? Otherwise, do you run it on SUL + octane booster?

what sort of speeds are you finding the scoob being kept up with? if you're talking about 0-80 then i'd say somethings up, but if it's beyond that i think thats just the nature of the car. i've nver found scoobs that impressive beyond about 80 and alot of ordinary cars don't loose a teriffic anount of ground when i boot it. ok so i drive a lowly UK turbo but on the motorways my old 190 mercedes cosworth wouldn't be that far behind!
*obviously leaving myself open to loads of abuse for driving a merc now*

some days it seems to wipe the floor with most things on the road than i suppose i get the odd day and get caned.i forgot to say on some days i have a boot full of tools but i do sort of compensate and realise it will go slower.

Doorman - the fuel thing could be the rason as someone else said, also if it's just a print out you've got from a dyno test then it's not guaranteed to be genuine - things could have changed. Also bearing in mind your Username you don't weigh 25 stone do you, I find a passenger even makes quite a bit of difference to performance when solo?!
