EVO VIII FQ330
#1
Has anyone seen a review of this car yet? It's meant to be a Spec C rival.
It has got me thinking about going over to the dark side.
A Spec C with a warranty would be ideal, I just couldn't spend the best part of 30k on a car and have no warranty.
And if given a choice between a STI8 PPP and a FQ330, well there is no choice really.
I need a replacement for my Type R, I just don't see a STI8 PPP filling it's shoes.
I know there is a difference in price and running costs, but I would imagine a FQ330 would be a fair bit quicker than a STI8 PPP.

If you do a lot of track days then a FQ-330 will fit the bill nicely, and it is defintely a quicker car than any standard Spec C. If you want a more refined ride, longer service intervals, "cheaper" <cough> running costs then a STi8 would suit you Sir.

Say what? Certain amount of confusion here.
For starters there's no such thing as a "Jap spec PPP".
Secondly, none of the STi8/9's come with 330bhp as standard, so either the figures are incorrect or the car's been modified. If it's been modified, it'd be important to know how it was done and whether it was done on UK fuel...

Greasemonkey. sorry to be a complete divvy mate, but is the latest latest, latest STi a 9? If so do I assume that the bug eye STi is an 8? If thats the case, I have been telling people I have an STi8 when I have an STi9. What a prat!! But then I am very new to all this.

If you bought a 2003 STi in the UK it is known as STi8
If you bought a 2003 STi in Japan it is known as a STi9
Confused? you should be as I don't quite know how they jumped ahead by one model?

Clanger, whether yours is an "8" or a "9" depends largely on whether it's a UK or Japanese market car.
The 2003 model year Japanese spec STi is theoretically the version 9. The MY2000 STi was officially called the Version VI (i.e. 6), so the 2001 successor naturally became known as the 7, the 2002 as the 8 and the 2003 as the 9.
The first time an STi branded Impreza was officially listed for purchase in the UK was the beginning of the 2002 model year.
Whether strictly correct or not, these cars seem to be referred to here as STi7's (probably because the spec was very similar to the basic 2001 model Jap spec STi "7") and thus the subsequent 2003 model Type UK has unofficially become known as an "STi8".
Confusing? Yes! Correct, probably not, as Subaru don't officially refer to the Japanese market STi's with a version number nowadays, and even if they did, the UK/Euro spec car doesn't easily fit into this numbering scheme because of its considerably different specification.

That would make a lot more sense, and is probably factually correct. It just isn't the convention that's been adopted round these parts.

Is it a Subaru warranty offered by Litchfields? Or a Warranty holdings? WH warranties are not worth the paper they are written on.
I've heard a bad account of a warranty from Litchfields.
Other than that, I've heard only good things about Litchfields.
