July 99 was the time that MY00 started getting built in Japan.

So by the time we got them it was fairly late 99 or early 00.

Where have you got this date Marc? Are you talking about the delivery/first registration date, or did you find it on the QA/manufacturing labels on one of the components inside the car?

If the former, the car's either an MY99, or an earlier car that was registered late (and if it was you'd be able to tell just by looking).

If some of its components were being made/QA'd in July '99, it could possibly be an early MY00 as Steven says, but there's no need to guess. The VIN number/applied model code will tell you definitively what model year the car is.
