Can you give me one good reason why on earth I would want anyone else on the road to know my name, albeit a rather obscure spelling of it.

The whole thing mystifies me, why anyone would want their name spelled out on their number plates. WHY DON'T YOU JUST SIGNWRITE YOUR NAME ON THE DOOR or have a little flag on the aerial saying KEVIN?

This obsession with 'cherished' (pathetic name for it) plates is for sad people who like orange fur on their parcel trays.

I remember looking at a chap's 22B and admiring the car and then he said to me, 'the best thing of course is my cherished number'. I was nearly sick.

Count me out. I prefer to be anonymous thank you, but I WOULD REALLY like to know your reason for not wanting to.

KevinS

Good morning. I do apologise for my post not meeting with your approval. Yes it is a rather obscure spelling, if you can find me KEV1N for £250 I'll have that instead!!

Unfortunately, I don't like plastering graphics all over my paintwork, so your signwrite idea wouldn't work for me. Also, the WRX aerial is electric, and wouldn't it be a pain if I had to keep stopping to pick up and replace my flag ever time I switched the radio on and off!

Orange fur???? Hmmmm, glad I don't live in your area. How do you cope? Stay anonymous, as it is your choice and I have no problem with that. If you saw my car on the road, what (other than maybe my name) would you be able to decipher. You couldn't tell my surname, where I lived, what my job was, who my friends were or anything about me other than you think my plate reads Kevin. So I'd say I still retained a degree of anonimity.

I posted for one reason and one reason only. Not to have to keep explaining myself to one and all, but for a little help in off loading the plate as it is no longer required. Those who aren't willing to help or buy need not respond, I'm not interested!
I'm normally a very pleasant, friendly guy and have no problem with anyone knowing my name. My car stands out by a mile anyway so the plate makes no difference to anyone but me, thats my choice!

Finally, I think you should read ian/555's post "scooby owners lack personality". I sincerely hope you don't fit into that category!

I say live and let live, oh and enjoy the rest of your bank holiday,

Kevin

KevinS, couldn't have put it better myself. I remember in the 70's people had stick on names on their windscreens. I could never figure out why.

Thanks, for the help guys. I'm glad I can rely on people on this board to be really helpful. I look forward to attending many events in the future knowing I'll be welcomed with open arms by the Scooby community (at least that is, until you see my registration plate....drats)!

I'm saying WHY!

Having your name (even with some rather childish way of spelling it) on your number plate is no diferent from walking around the streets with a name badge on your shirt pocket. Why would anyone want to do that? Beats me. Perhaps you all work at B&Q.

I totally agree - Quite Right! We'll have no lighthearted fun or frivolity on THIS board young man. Honestly, how dare these "people" want to stand out from the crowd? It's madness. Let's get back to week long threads about ignition timing, altogether much more worthwhile.

For Sale
Registration plate G124EME
Looks a bit like GRAEME if you look closely.
Helps alot if your name is GRAEME!
Genuine reason for sale - people keep shouting my name at me as I drive past. Feels like I've got lots of friends but has caused a few minor accidents when it takes me by surprise.
Offers around £20K will be fine or part exchange for an amusing number plate like S1LLY.
LOL

KevinS if you don't have anything funny or nice to say why bother saying it?

Jo, I agree.

KevinW if I see your car I'll give you a wave
S958 XNE.

It kind of looks like S958 XNE if you squint and pretend that you are looking at one of those 3d pictures.

We are starting to get one two many gibbers one this board.
