Standard scoob? running fine? - Sign in!!!
#1
so far scoobynet has saved me a small fortune in insurance tips, servicing and repair tips - but is it worth it for all the constant worry you get
"engine number 76 blown"
"estimated repair - half the mortgage"
"scoob died last weekend..."
"your scoob will die unless you run it on 125ron fuel and sacrifice small children to it.."
I THOUGHT THESE THINGS WERE RELIABLE!!?!?
so if you're running a standard car ( particularly an MY00 ), and it's running well - please sign in and make a load of us feel a lot better!
Dave.
ps. not meant to be a dig at all those with problems - just getting freaked out!

Julian M - Wow an MY01 with more mileage than mine, getting the 70k service a week on Monday (currently at 68k-something).
As for the car... not very standard I'm afraid.

UK MY99 with an ITG panel filter and big stainless back box - run in at 75k on the clock! Only had a rear offside wheel bearing go since I got it 18 months ago.
A lot of cost depends where you go for mods/repairs - if you can get to Scoobyclinic at Chesterfield I'd recommend them. Kev, Dave and boys keep up the excellent work (and prices).
Cheers.

MY00 Wagon, had it a week, 44K, so far so good!
Pretty much standard, I've not done anything to it - except put a dog guard in!
Came with some 6 spoke 17" gold alloys, quick shift and leather interior.

MY00, std except for WRSport BB and big set of alloys,
Running like a dream 18k miles now and only a new clutch to speak about.
Only a Scooby owner would be happy with a new clutch at 18K!

Touching wood etc...
MY97 UK Turbo with 82k+ on it, still okay. Though it still stinks of burning oil, despite the service claiming to have replaced the rocker cover gasket.

Clutch was replaced at 15k,
And am happy as Subaru did it under warranty, there aren't many manufacturers which will even look at a clutch under warranty (especially some of the big German ones - I know from experience,) known fault or not.
So credit to Subaru for that, and in fairness to them if you drive the car like it was designed (which is not always possible - speed limits, other road users etc) then the 'fault' doesn't appear.

Had my MY00 turbo for six weeks now,and im very impressed with it.
its totally standard(including the twim peashooter exhaust).
i know ive only had it six weeks but its been fine.its only got 25k
on it.its just had its 36k month service(oil srevice)which was £130.the only problem i have is that the dealer told me the next service (cambelt and major service) will be around the £800 mark!!!
so come next april wen the service is due,i wont be as happy.
by the way,wen i picked my car up yesterday, the dealer had put a bottle of screenwash and a bottle of wd40 type stuff on the passenger seat.....can somebody tell me why the wd40???
he also charged me for both items!

MY97 45k mls, morrettes and gold 16" alloys when purchased. Now got STi 7 rear box and MY01 4 pots as well - fandabi dosi!
Modified 'go-faster' bonnet ~ 1/2 inch shorter - due to not quite stopping in time behind a jeep cherokee Damn that ABS
Only normal servicing required so far (mileage not monthly!)
No clutch judder

MY02 (with PPP so not exactly standard) but absolutely no faults whatsoever so far, with 25k on the clock. Much more reliable than any other car I've owned from brand new.

MRDBM (Thread starter) Take this is the way its intended (Have a laugh) but I thought you had to "play" with your lambda sensor a while back and I do recall something about internal bulb colours .
[Royal family mode on] No problems - my **** [Royal family mode off] .
Driving like Miss Daisey helps as well I suppose (IIRC 35 + MPG claimed on a previous thread )
