I have the only non Pro...... sorry ppp STi 8 on here probably and am insured with Liverpool Vic. My m8 has a car from the dark side (FQ300) which reading all the recent threads will anialate mine out of sight in every aspect so why then is my insurance the same as his (exactly), details as follows:-
(1) I'm 47 with full no claims, he is 32 with full no claims
(2) My car 265BHP (claimed), his is 301BHP (at least)
(3) We live in the same area thus the same post codes
(4) My car cost £23,500, his cost £29,000
(5) we have the same excess on our policies etc

Can someone just explain how this works as I have rung up Liverpool Vic (not dropping my M8 in it of course) and they can't explain it either or is it yet another case of the EVO winning hands down!!! Still wouldn't change the Scoob though, I love it to bits.

Its down to a number of things including statistics for theft and how much it costs to repair.

I had an EVO 5, insurance at 35 £1100, subaru £800

They are a bit higher than normal as I don't have full no claims and a recent £15,000 claim, but they are significantly different !

Who would have though an STi could be the sensible choice

Hope you dont mind me asking, but who are you insured with Forest? Or would you prefer no to say? Its just that seems a lot cheaper than wot I'm paying.

I'd get a quote on his car yourself to be sure. Although you are in the same postcode area, even different streets can make a difference.

Guy's thanks for the replies, I think I should be gratefull though reading the post from Forest as my quote is £707 Fully comp with wife on too ( she is 42 ) so it doesn't seem all that bad now, it was just that I couldn't understand why the circumstances of me and my mate were poles apart and yet the same quote. By the way does anyone know of a cheaper insurance co than Liverpool Vic (doesn't hurt to keep them on their toes eh!!).

Cheers Ady
