I have already posted this in the "Other Marques" section, hopefully I'll get a bigger audience here!!!

I am considering swapping my MY99 STI Type-R for Nissan 350Z. Has anybody gone down this route??? Can you give me the pros and cons of this idea???
As its a euro spec car I presume that it uses normal unleaded fuel, yeay or neay?
One thing that worries me is the weight, at 1.5 tonne it is a good 250kg heavier than my Type-R. Does it drive or feel overly heavy at all?
I know that it will be a backwards step regarding performance, but I am 30 now so I'm not overly fussed about that.

Any input appreciated.

Cheers,

Craig

Guess I could claim to have come from an STI, although it was a few years ago. Had an STI V and P1, both of which were lightly modded.

If you are not as worried about all out performance, then the 350Z will be great. 0-60 in under 6 secs and 0-100 in just over 14 isnt too bad.

My impressions of the handling so far are good. You know you cant abuse it like an STI, but driving a powerfull RWD car rewards in other ways.

It is a heavy old beast, but it doesnt feel it, although the steering is heavy. Its also not bad on fuel.

You do have to go and have a drive though. We all view things differently.

No one Ive met has had anything but nice things to say about the looks. The interior, whilst not an Audi and with some cheap plastics so far is rattle free. Mine has the GT pack and Rays. The Bose system that comes with GT pack is amongst the best factory units out there. Might not be upto Lexus std's, but better than Harmon Kardon in an M3 and Bose in an S3. Also like the Xenon lights etc.

Jonathan,

Many thanks for the reply. Your opinion seems to match every other opinion I have canvassed from other people. I think it will be a good move to go for something a little more "sedate" than my Type-R!!

Is it possible to eak out any more power from the engine?, eg would a decent exhaust and filter take it near 300bhp?

Any other opinions out there.

Craig.
