I have only recently bought a Subaru and I new that it would need great care, so I followed advice like, let the car cool down and warm e.t.c.

Everything was going fine until yesterday when the big or should I say huge smile was wiped off my face.

My problem the car is now jittering or holding back during powerful bursts of acceleration.

I have been told the following things could be the cause:

1. The sparks need changing? - But I just had them done in the service!
2. Because the car is an import it needs additives in the fuel.

Surely one of you experienced Scooby owners has the answer.... Please put the smile back on my face.

Check that no air pipes have blown of the car, such as the vac pipe on the dump valve. Look for the obvious things under the bonnet

the very same thing has happend to me. i can go through 1st,2nd and third but 4th &5th it holds back, and then goes, and then holds back again, you get the idea. it has always boosted to 15psi (uk PPP) and holds but in 4th & 5th it goes to 18 and back to 9psi, its just been seviced 45000, i have been told it could just be blocked air pipes. but why only 4th & 5th??

Might also be due to cold conditions, slight overboost.

Have you got a boost gauge & if so what does it peak at?

99scoob, it defo sounds like the boost solenoid sticking. It's probably sticking open giving you maximum boost, then the ecu will think its about to blow up, cutting back boost. Try putting a bleed valve in see if it makes a difference.
