I seem to remember some other people with import WRXs have this on the log book? Check the chassis number - I think www.sidc.co.uk frequently asked questions section has more info.
Cheers,
Ian.

If you look at the thread above, one of the posts is:-
"*MOST* imports had 1.8GL etc on log book at UK registration - it's quite normal - don't worry about it.
I guess the DVLA just picked the closest model! "

my understanding is...
insurance companies rarely check anything when you take the policy out therefore you will probably be accepted.... if you ever need to claim and a loss inspector spots the discrepancy your policy will be void...

mine had the wrong fooken chassis numbers
but we soon had them changed
stupid dvla people cant even read numbers, i went in and spoke to them at a head office type place and they promised to sort it, blamed swansea
and they changed the numbers for me, and also changed a fooken number 8 to capital B
i took in all the shipping paperwork and stuff to give them a refrance to the correct number and they still fooked it up
bunch of gimps

I've got a 95WRX and I think my log book just says that it is a Subaru Impreza but if I put my reg number into an insurance website it comes up with a 1.8gl! Only noticed it when the premium came up as a third the amount I had been quoted before!
Someone a while back said that it might have something to do with the 1.8gl being the first model in a list of Impreza models and they grabbed the first one when the car was registered.
Was just wondering, if the 1.8gl is the nearest to a WRX, what do imported Evos have on their log books!?!!

I bought a GL as well, i got my Insurance with Tesco, and told them my Reg number but it wasn't on their computers, so i basically just told them it was wrx import, so it is now on their computer with the correct info!
