Dumpling, obviously i have no idea why you need a maf sensor, but is the car not running correctly? I had a similar problem with mine, and solved it by removing the unit and cleaning it thoroughly using an aerosol type brake/clutch cleaner. Also cleaned out the air filter, and touching wood,it appears to have cured it

If that is your problem, give it a go....its a whole load cheaper

Can I suggest contacting Grade-A Subaru Breakers cos I purchased a couple of MAF Sensors from them (when I had my prev 93 WRX) and I do belive the entire unit cost £80.

Just a thought

On older cars it may be safe to clean the MAF sensor; but definitely don't on MY99/00 cars as they are too weak.
