Cool

Finally got round to doing something about dumping my brain's knowledge of Scoobies into a FAQ!

So here's a first draft, constituting one evening of furious typing. Would the established people please read and correct everything they can, either here or by e-mail . Much appreciated!

I know two of the smileys don't work yet, but they will!

All suggestions, comments and criticism gratefully received...

Cheers
Richard

Thanks guys! Amendments noted and the offline version will be changed. Any more? I've thought of a few things that I got wrong last night too (it was late...).

Cheers
Richard

Top job!

Spotted 1 thing though. I reckon in Section 5.1 SO2/3 are Bridgestones not Goodyear

A nice start.

"3.3 Gearbox - Normally not required, but for serious power and torque outputs (350bhp/lbft+) an uprated kit may be needed for the 5-speed box. The 6-speed box is stronger as it is designed to take around 300lbft from high-specification JDM STi cars."

I would suggest caution on the 5 speed over 300 lbft. Uprated kits also break.

How about adding recommended tyre pressures to Section 5.1? Seems to crop up a lot

Ok, updated except for the last two replies.

supertouring - good idea, will do.
mark - already had this in mind, but couldn't remember the values last night. I'll add them in soon.

Keep 'em coming!

Cheers

Richard,

This is excellent stuff!!

Would you like this to become a very comprehensive start to an official Scoobynet FAQ?

Please email me direct if you would like to discuss this.

Once again, well done!

Regards,
Shaun.

Richard - nice work! Suggest you put hyperlinks on the supplier references in section 12.3. Also, are you going to include the BBS code (i.e. for italics, bold text, and lists etc)?

this is great for idiots like me! rather than just letting it slide down the pages though, shouldn't it be kept at the top like the forum guidelines etc.?
i know it must be frustrating for the smart people on this site to keep replying to 'what petrol should i use?' and the like, but i'd say 90% of drivers know jacksh1t about how cars work and have to ask these questions for their own peice of mind. i post topics that people might think are stoopid but if i don't ask, i won't find out, so thanks to replying to my ramblings!
by the way, what does PMSL mean? i now know what SIAL means and i feel a bit dim asking, so be gentle

Good effort!

A section entitled 'What do I have to do to an import in order to run it in the UK?' would be useful. Fuel, remap, SVA etc.

Perhaps some more technical stuff would be useful to have. Gear and diff ratios, how DCCD works, info for wiring in aftermarket ECU's such as Motec etc - would all be very useful.

Oh, and the servicing schedule would be useful to have too.

Lights: You can always try and adjust the lights to the correct alignment as factory settings are nearly always too low and brighter bulbs won't improve things much if this is the case.

Window scratches are cased by dirt accumulating on the soft guide pads. Try not to wind down a dirty window as you'll pull dirt onto the pads and once cotaminated they'll scratch away forever...

Good work, you must be bored...
