45k doesn't include plugs, basically just a brake check and oil change, plus cam belt on pre 00MY, just paid £420 including a cambelt tensioner as well (£124) at Subaru4you, avoid the main dealer, you know it makes sense

Just because my local dealer has changed over to a different marque, they still think that they can charge exclusive servicing costs....
£230 for a 15K service
2 x other local dealers have quoted £170......
Just waiting now for a couple of Jap specialists to come back to me on prices.....
And people on this BBS have been complaining because others slag off servicing costs!!!!
Makes you mad, don't it!!

Paid £600 squid for my 90k Service. Plugs, belts, fluids, etc. Just done my 95k oil change myself. Paid £60 for front brake pads including fitting by my local garage. Id only go to a Scoob dealer now for specialist stuff! My local garage can do most of the work at a fraction of the cost. PS. My pads cost £32 for the fronts (full set), from a Motor Factors and they charged the labour!
One thing I hate is being ripped off! But then we get ripped off all the time in this country eh!

knuckledragger,
It's not that straight forward. Any new Subaru purchased in the UK after October 2003 can be serviced at an approved garage which meets IMs new standards. At this moment that only means franchised Subaru UK dealers, remember some dealers recently lost their franchises as they were not willing to fork out for the new standards (pretty showroom). The OFT is looking into this next year and may then remove this clause as it may be anti competitive. The OFT recently issued a report which can be found on there website which explains it all. The removal of block excemption was meant to take care of this but the EU people left the above clause in and made it up to the member countries to remove it if they wanted to.
