IMHO:

a) they're only a small player in the UK and can't afford decent ads
b) the cars sell themselves ;-)
c) when they do ads, they're cheesy crap - see (a)!

No real need because of their WRC participation. Here via WRC, Subaru spend a fortune on TV "advertising". It's covered under their WRC budget expenditure and is probably far more effective than any simple commercials between TV programmes or in broadsheets.

I believe that the owner of IM donates money to charity instead of spending on TV adverts.

Thumbs down

It's really a gay and lesbian thing...

"Long snubbed by advertisers that would have otherwise seized the tennis star at her height of stardom, Martina Navratilova was finally embraced by Subaru of America after the company began courting the lesbian market in 1996."

SUBARU are queer

As 16vmarc says, the only place I've seen them is on eurosport adverts a few years ago (adverts during rally coverage).

I remember once there was a full advert break between a car program, I think it was 5th gear, purely about the Subaru Impreza!!

Thats the only one I can remember seeing anyway......

Cheers,
Grant

Subaru adverts are common and indeed current on Eurosport. There were recently adverts for the MY03/04 WRX where the guy was driving the car ***** out (and even buzzed a bike on a straight (yeah right ) and it turned out he was driving it on a kind of rolling road/chassis dyno with a big screen in front of the car. Currently, there are adverts for the new Legacy Outback with a girl standing in the middle of some road in the middle of nowhere (looks like Iceland or similar) wearing a long flowing dress/nighty. It's a crap ad IMHO but hey, I remember it

There was the other one earlier in the year where there was a Legacy Estate/Outback "Ice Dancing" on a frozen lake alongside an Ice Skater.

Presumably, IM don't pay for any of these ads though?

Matt
