...what a horrible way to end the year. Just went and had four new Goodyear F1s fitted and my H&S decact centre section to my March 00 classic and was looking forward to a test run.
I reversed out of the tyre centre to park the car up safely across the road. It was very misty...and i didn't see the telegraph pole behind me....crunch!
Oh what an awfull feeling and what a horrible mess. Bumper is bent in, boot is badly buckled and rear spoiler is broken. I'm astonished at the level of damage at such slow reversing speed. It could so easily have been written off. Fortunetely it looks as though the main frame of the car is fine.
A bodywork repair centre will look at it on Friday and give me an idea on the cost to repair.
What a not so great way to end the year!!
Looking on the bright side....i wanted a new bigger spoiler anyway!....but it's an expensive way to go about it!
Ps. the teating of those F1s will have to wait.

Move this user to muppets, permanently... ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Seriously though, what a bummer. The only bumps I've ever had have been while reversing, so I fully sympathise. At least you've got the brass to fix it with, I hope.

Rotten luck old chap. Lightly scraped the rear wheelarch against a concrete pillar a couple of months back and let the insurance that the 600 squid hit. My only 'own-fault' accident in almost 20 years of driving. Felt like a complete tit at the time, but got over it.
Wish I could add a cheery "look on the bright side" but there isn't one until you get the car back all pristine and shiney
.
HNY anyway!

i'm rubbish at reversing too!
very easily done as i this happened to my 3 week old sti...cost me a lot of money for the body work, new rear light and respray. lucky the bumper could be re-shaped.

Alexf.....that looks nasty mate. ![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I feel alittle better...but not much.
May'be i'll try and get someone to take some photos and post them up in the new year.
What has astonished me is how much damage has been done to my Scoob at such a slow reversing speed. I guess it's just the fact i hit something as rock hard as a telegraph pole.
Thank goodness it wasn't a 22b !!![Embarrassment](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/redface.gif)
smurfy.

Sorry to hear of your accident. I have outside a boot lid for a classic. As I no longer have a scooby throw us some beer money and it's yours. Should help keep the repair bill down for you. Drop me a PM if it's any good to you. It's in blue on the off chance your car is blue

Thankfully neither I nor the driver of the Golf were seriously hurt, so it shows how good these cars are. I'm insured with Tescos and they've been very good - the garage has already started work on repairing my car (I'll probably get a full respray - no more stonechips!!
) and my courtesy car is only a phone call away (shame it's an Astra
)
Not the best end to the year, but it could have been much, much worse.

Lucky escape mate, looks like your scooby will live to fight another day. I spun on black ice at the begining of 2003 and hit a fire engine at 50mph.........
write off![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Take it easy out there in this weather guys!

Not got any pictures, but I flipped my soft top MR2 end over end twice with a few barrel rolls for good measure when a tyre failed on the motorway, total write off.
The police could not believe I survived !!
