ATTENTION REGIONAL ORGANISERS ONLY! PLEASE DO NOT POST ON HERE UNLESS YOU RUN A GROUP IN YOUR REGION! THANKS :d

I am going to organise a "TOUR OF THE COUNTIES" for the smacs group. This will take the form of a series of drives out over the next year, taking in all the counties just in Britain.(for now!)
Some counties we will be able to do in a day quite easily like Derbyshire, Lancashire, and South Yorkshire, while others may take a little longer, Devon and Cornwall spring to mind!
Rather than just pass through your counties, I would like our group to sample some of your best roads, which is what owning a scooby is all about after all. It would be quite easy to drive mainly motorway miles, and cover the whole country in a few days, but that would be very very dull!
So, I require your help. Could you please get in touch with me, either on here or via email with the details of your club or group that you organise for your area. I can than formulate a route, let you know where we're going and how you can meet us and show us your best roads.
I am not doing this for charity, just for the fun of covering our green and pleasant land in a top drivers car and meeting some like minded individuals at the same time.
Most of these drives will be over a weekend, with some coming midweek if I'm on holiday, but as I work full time, I will only really be able to do the bulk on a sunday.
So, I'd be looking to meet up with groups on the Sunday mornings, have a drive around your roads, with a stop for a spot of lunch, and then escort me out at the end of the day!
The first run is provisionally planned up to Cumbria sometime towards the end of jan, beginning of feb, maybe taking in Lancashire at the same time.
Thanks for your time, and I look forward to receiving your replies.

REMEMBER THOUGH, TO KEEP THIS THREAD MANAGABLE, PLEASE ONLY RESPOND IF YOUR A REGIONAL ORGANISER. THANKS.

Oh, nearly forgot, as per my profile, the smacs and myself are based in STOCKPORT, CHESHIRE, so thats one off the list for a start

chris.

Chris

I arrange a cruise for the Essex lot on the 1st Saturday of every month, If you could perhaps tie some dates in for your convoy , Allways have 30/40 scoobs attending even in Jan/Feb

Perhaps put this on www.scoobycity.co.uk to help you arrange the Suffolk/Norfolk/Cambridge as well

Good luck m8

Think you will need it

thanks charlie, and hello tiny01, sounds like you have quite a meet going down there, and hope to meet you all soon.
There is no rush to do this tour, we have all year!
I think I may concentrate on the north and midlands first, and then when the days get longer towards summer, start stretching towards the south.

LIST:

LORDHARDING CUMBRIA AND TYNE TEES
CHARLIEWHISKEY DERBYSHIRE, WALES AND SCOTLAND
TINY01 ESSEX

ANYMORE?

off to bed now, will have a look at this thread as soon as I get up at dinner.

chris

West Sussex dis'organiser checking in

You could incorporate East/West Sussex in one trip.
Let me know what you need

Sounds like a great idea.
Iain.
I'll let the rest of the local organisers know about this too.

Chris,
Sounds like a Blast!!
I seem to be organising thing in and around the Dorset Area, I'll get the gang to think about which roads are the best in the county, and when you know when you're coming this way I'm sure we'll be able to arrange a meet for a Sunday, or a midweek eve if the evenings are a tad lighter!!

The Isle of Wight is a separate county now. There's not that many Impreza owners here so we've joined in with other like minded Japanese car owners. We're just getting things started really. I'm more of a disorganiser Mista Weava is better at organising the locals, and Dyney has organised weekend visits from Sussex to here for a few years now

I'd like to see another visit in the summer Nic & I would be willing to write another treasure hunt. (The IOW has 500 miles of roads to play on )

Hi Chris

I do my bit for Cornwall/Devon Scoobs...if u can get many to turn out !

My claim to fame was organising a meet at Longleat Oct2001(Big Southern-71 Scoobs!)with the assistance of some of the very helpful & friendly organisers on this thread

My"dream"has always been a"BIG"NATIONAL meet along the lines of Lord Hardings"BIG NORTHERN"....i reckon we could pull it off with everyone on here plus what you're plannin too !

Let me know if i can help & what you need !

Duracell...in Pixie land !

dnb and duracell, good morning and thanks for responding.
I have the whole of the south coast sorted now! Just have to sort out dates and route!!!
Can you let me know any provisional dates you may have for tours of your areas? I did a quick search this morning on scoobynet, and only came up with 3 proper tours
tour de ecosse
tour of derbyshire
and not strictly a scooby only tour, but looked like good fun, the MENCAP tour of the south
Let me know if you did anymore, as I have only just started trying to organise this, and already it is eating away at my spare time
See you all this year,
chris

Hi Chris
L.A.D.S signing in.
I'm sure we could arrange a daytrip for you in and around Lancashire. Probably better over the east side and verging on to Yorkshire, but we can sort that later.

Cheers

hi trev, I was wondering when the L.A.D.S were going to sign in, nice to hear from you.
As your so close to us, a long summers day, or even a series of short spring days would be good in lancs, or we could do one long weekend of top lancastrian roads!
see you soon,
chris.

I did a quick search this morning on scoobynet, and only came up with 3 proper tours
Muppets Do Wales
Wales Camping Trip 4 - 31st August /1st September
Wales Camping Trip 5
Tour o Derbyshire 7th October
Muppet Lakes Camping Trip
North York Moors run & camp for the Northern Big One
just to name a few

I also did a Tour of Notts and the two short routes for the original Big One which included some of the best roads in Nottinghamshire so you can put me down for that and North Leicestershire too

Who gave CW Scotland??
So who, exactly, ran the last two TdE's??? you know I love it It would have been nice if some more Scots had actually turned up but that wasnt down to me

Im sure any help will be appreciated Dougster, it's not an exclusive That goes for the Welsh lot too, I know several other people have done routes in Wales so there should be no shortage of info there

OK OK Charliewhiskey, point taken. You are mister organiser by far
It was very early this morning that I did the search you know!
I think we have the north, apart from yorkshire, covered now. Lancashire can be "done" anytime, I'll be getting in touch with Lordharding for cumbria and tyne tees, so that just leaves the whole of the midlands to sort out, and your name crops up there as well, as you've noted
Norfolk and Suffolk hasnt had any response yet, anyone up for it?
Lincolnshire as well!

Nathan L, the list has been ammended to show your efforts m8, cheers for that,
hope to be driving those cracking roads one day this year
