0-60 & 1/4 mile times?
#1
Was wondering what 0-60 & 1/4mile times I could hope for?
My car is:
MY99 UK 4 Door
Full De-cat (turbo bck) mongoose 3" through and 4"back
HKS SSQV
Samco Turbo Hoses
Tek3 running 17.4psi
17" WRX wheels etc
Run on Optimax
Also what is the best launch method?
Ideal tyre pressures for best launch?
Will be using a perfomance meter thingy and then maybe go to Santa Pod Jan 25th.
Regards,
Bob

My old standard MY97 UK2000 did a 4.8 at a magazine day. It did the 1/4 mile in 13.7.
Launch wise i just dialled up 5.5 to 6 k and gave it hell lol. Suffice to say my clutch didnt last long after each event.

I can do 0-60 in 17 seconds in my auto Xantia. As for 1/4 mile times, I think its a bit TOO quick for a RWYB day. I'll have to join a drag racing club I think.

MY99 UK Turbo
Scoobysport 2.5" straight through decat to 3" tail pipe
ITG Panel filter
Tek2 from scoobysport, apparently premapped for decats
1/4 mile 13.8secs and i really wasnt going mega mad on the clutch so got a few tenths to shave off there, terminal speed at 98mph at santa pod.
Was in the 14's when standard and on 14.1 with above mods on a clutch saving launch, so you'll be atleast 2tenths either way depending on how you launch!

In the Scoob (MY99) I got 14.2s at 98mph with just exhaust and filter, at the Pod on a VERY hot day.
After I modded it (ECUTEK, VF35, pump, reg. etc etc) I got a 13.3s at the Pod. Can't remember terminal for that run.
Both runs were easyish on the clutch and box, IIRC about 4k rpm and come off clutch.
Shame its getting sold!

had the same car with the same mods, decat / tek3 and plenty of 1/4mile practice best i did was a 13.10sec
launch: more the revs the better i usually dial in 6000rpm, drop clutch on the green light, but just catch it to spin the clutch and keep the revs up and not bog down, but with the slight wheelspin you get this will help keep the car in boost. found this to be the best way, also got me a 4.5sec 0-60 with this method at a 0-60 timted event.
this method WILL damage ya car though, i went through 2 gearbox's, 3 flywheels and 3 clutches last year, but did race over 100 1/4miles

Peccy: Excellent times mate. Lots of g/boxes/clutch/flywheels though!
...I havent had mine timed before but will be V happy if if get much the same as yours.
...I probably average 4 highly revved standing starts each month and haven't had any problems with mine (car 4years old now with 40k on clock. I've had it for 30,000mls and over 2 years)...still on orignal clutch too...Sometimes get a strong burning smell in cabin, which I assume is the clutch. Sometimes bit difficult to select all gears straight after standing starts...never much of a problem though.
..am off to the 'for sale' forum to see if a can buy a clutch/flywheel jus in case.
...is it worth buying uprated ones?...midlandimpreza advised me original is more than strong enough to cope with my mods.
Regards,
Bob

it was running 281bhp @ the last rolling road day @ approx 1.05bar boost
its currently running 1.3bar peak and 1.1 ish held
its pretty fast for a nigh on standerd engine
12.8 is my next target and i WILL be getting it come the next drag event
it doesnt bother me that much if i get beat on the strip @ the moment becuase i have spent next to nothing at all on the engine mods
current mods are
samco hoses
pannel filter
cat back exhaust
dawse device
octane booster?
ohh yeah its currently got a td04 fitted as my last VF22 turbo died just before christmas
planning a td05 conversion tho

I have a UK MY98 with 267bhp and 296LB
Best times to date are 4.7 sec 0-60 (Trax2003) and 13.04 1/4mile (Jap Performaance Show)
Big mods planned over the next few months so I'm hoping for mid to low 12's for this season
Peccy's described the launch method perfectly
