The car starts out life as a MY04 STi10 (JDM GL model), then has the 2.5 conversion carried out, this is not just a straight forward job of bolting up the 2.5 USDM block to the GL heads, there is work required in certain areas to make the two setups compatible. The turbo is a hybrid twin scroll that has been developed for this combination. Exhaust is a milltek assembly but is a diferent spec to the 2.0T milltek setup used on the Litchfield 2.0 spec C's.

Insurance on the T25 is going to much the same as the WR1, possibly 5% on top for being an import, and I believe the car comes with some form of warranty.

Price in region of £33k IIRC

You must be gutted Edcase, the amount of money you spent on your bugeye could have bought you one of these beasts.
Oh well, live & learn.

LOL, no not at all. I've had 13 months of pure enjoyment and made several friends for life who I otherwise would not have known (one of whom is on the verge of marrying my best friend) as well as learning a lot about Scoobs.

It's also how I got to know Iain originally.

Feel free to take advantage of my 'mistakes' here otherwise lets keep this thread on topic?

I love it....

But then I loved the spec 'c'..

Also like the thought of half stressing a 2.5l block to giving that performance, than pushing a 2.0l block to that level for the obvious reliablity issues.

I am assuming given that none of the standard cars have the 2.5l block, this really is going to cause a problem with insurers. At least the spec 'c' does share much of it's bits and bobs with a standard UK spec sti? Am I right in this assumption?

Do you mean UK? The standard US Sti has a 2.5L block, but yes, none of the UK Imprezas do.

Allegedly insurance will be around that of the WR1.

I so wish that money didn't matter and that I could go down there now and order one. I have some serious sums to do over the next few weeks, and who knows. I will not be the first in members gallery tho

Test drive might force me to forget how much in debt I am though

Ed yeah, I mean normally you dont' get charged the earth for imports, if the majority of the parts are the same as the UK spec, so that servicing, and worst case scenario repairs, aren't going to be too bad.

Example MR2 (mk2) turbo, import only, but has same engine as the Celica GT4, so insurance not so much of a problem cause you can go along to a decent toyota dealer that can service gt4 (so I was told by a broker on the phone).

However, as standard UK cars only have the 2.0L capacity engine, then the 2.5L engine should it go blow up for example (as unlikely as that is) or get crunched by a lorry et etc would need to be imported.. Aren't these the sort of issues that insurance companies take into consideration when working out premiums on specialist imported cars? And the small matter of being one of the fastest point to point cars int he country

PS: Good work Ian!!!!

I saw the car at the Autosport show, it does look stunning but it seems very underpowered to me for the £33K. 2 Litre STi's with exhausts and ECUTEK near as damit make 340 hp, granted it'll be torquey compared to a 2 litre!

Ask yourself... Would it be easier to buy an STi 8 / 9, the a USDM 2.5 short motor and hybrid turbo? It would be alot cheaper!

Never the less still looks good, now where did I put my S202 rear spoiler?????

Conrad, bear in mind that is a STARTING point though!!! 500hp+ is readily achievable with the 2.5, although you still then have issues with things like gearbox.

John, LOL, why don't you go play with your 'friend' Deep?

You are missing the point of the car i think. It's a fully specced up car that you dont need to modify once you have bought it. The engine spec is a mild tuned state so that it will be waranty safe, yet it will still be producing serious power/torque levels. It also comes complete with a quality coilover suspension package that has been properly developed so there is no need to spend money there too.

As a point to point car its going to be very quick yet totally placid in normal town driving and you could spec it to be very stealthy by using a normal wing package. You could even spec this car with the Spec C as its basis losing some of the comfort features but gaining performance if you really want a more track oriented car.

This car is aimed at people who want to buy a complete higher spec car than is available by the normal routes IMHO, there is a definate market for this type of car, hence Alpina and AMG for example.

If you want to do your own mods then you can always buy a lower base model and go that route, that option is still there via Iain or IM, but not everyone wants to do that.

Did someone say £33k
That is almost £10k above the cost of a nearly new STi9 GL model.
