Insurance has now confirmed my impreza 99(T) has been wrote off.
It was a DBM with 39000 miles, 2 owners FSSH in excellant condition with no mods no A/C without leather seats.
My insurance has offered me £9600 as there first price, I feel i should refuse the offer and expect a little more as i am sure at present it would cost more to replace.

Does anybody have any opinions on what I should do?

Cheers Everyone
STEVE

Its always worth refusing the first offer. May not make a difference but its worth a try.

If you have the time argue.!!!
It took me about 7 months but I got the insurance payout on my vehicle up from £6250 to £8995 a few years back.

Lot's of too-ing & fro-ing.

Something I didn't realise until very late was that there is an insurance ombudsman who can adjudicate in these matters - never actually got there but the threat seemed to work

Would finding a similar specced car on a authorised dealer forecourt help in getting them to raise their price ?

After all, you probably looked after yours, so why should you settle for something without warranty, or something that needs potential work done to it after purchase.

I trawled autotrader website for similar spec cars, printed out sheets with the ads on, got copies of auto magazines with the vehicle values given etc and posted all this info to back up my claim of how much the thing was worth...

Doesn't sound too bad an offer.

I am considering selling my car - not sure if you would be interested:-

Sensible Mods:-

New 16" MY99 5 Spoke Alloys With New Bridgestones
Prodrive P1 Embossed Stainless Backbox (Standard Backbox Included)

Philips Vision Plus Headlight Bulbs (Recommended!)

An extra £1350 on top of your insurance money for a lower mileage newer car - bargain

Not advertised it anywhere yet.

Cheers,

Thats a sly wee plug there...

In my opinion, you should ALWAYS refuse the first offer, remember Insurance Companies are trying to save themselves money.. So wont be offering exactly what they value your car at first time round!!

Best of luck mate,

Take a few hundred quid from the robbing buggers for me!!

Cheers,
Grant
