Use optimax. Do search on Bp ultimate, there was a massive thread on this some weeks ago and some suprising details were posted.

Both optimax and ultimate are legally 95 Ron - look at both companies literature - they are not allowed to state that it is 97 or 98 etc etc
With the additives they add may or may not take it up to 96 97 98 etc..
Optimax is the best fuel IMHO
I have tried ultimate in my SAAB turbo (standard) and it sucked so I will not even experiment with it in the scoob !!
I had a conversation with a cossie owner at the weekend who was convinced that Ultimate was 101 RON

I have emailed both companies in the past and got a good response from Shell UK Customer services who stated that their's is genuine 98 RON, where as BP just gave me a speal of marketing talk which did't answer my questions of "is it just a rename of super unleaded 97 RON and why is it so bloody expensive?"
I only go near Ultimate if need to put in some fuel to get me to a Shell Station.

I had to use Ultimate yesterday. had no choice really, not a single Shell station anywhere where I was and I had another 200 miles to go with the red light flickering!
Ran the car as normal, maxed it a couple of times and I noticed absolutely no difference at all. The surprising thing seems to be that the fuel consumption was better with Ultimate. I have no scientific proof of this, however the tank was less empty for the same mileage on Ultimate as it was on Optimax. And yes, I started off with a full tank of Optimax, then a full tank of Ultimate.
It's watch this space, methinks. If Ultimate works then I for one will use it. I'm sick to death of driving miles to find a Shell station that sells Optimax (yes I have the guide book in my car). Gives more fuelling choices.

Scratch - look on the web for the Shell Customer Services Helpline - they provide a free UK atlas with all Shell filling stations listed.
Beware though; it's about three years old now, and some (especially South Western) petrol stations have been closed since publication...
