Thanks for posting this.
Please have a look over this BBS & in particular the Projects section, where I think you will find that that Saab has a little catching up to do

Put it hope against the likes of 360s and 911s and all that stuff for a straight line shoot em out, and have clarkson eating his rather large boofont!

Saabs aren't 1/4mile cars - 1/4 mile is a slightly misleading measure of a car's true performance.
A 2dr 900 can easily weigh 1200kgs - less than many Scoobies.
As for catching up, well I have been lurking on this board for quite a few months now. The Projects section is a favourite lurking point! Seems to me that most of the projects there fall short of the proven output of this 900 Turbo.
Why a Saab? Because you can buy one in excellent condition for £1200 and it's more easily tunable than a Scooby. Engines are much stronger than EJ20's, closed block deck, no nasty oil pump problems, no leanouts on cyl 3 etc etc etc.
Oh, did I forget the double-wishbone front-suspension?

My Saab with only 185BHP spins it's wheels like a hotpoint spins washing
500BHP - no wonder it leaves "two black lines" when accelerating in top gear !
After getting out of my scoob and into the saab you instantly feel more tentative driving it has their chassis are very poor IMHO

From: 1600cc's of twin scroll fun :)
Did we forget to mention that Saab are using the EJ20 unit in their new cars?
Dont underestimate the tuning ability or the robustness of the EJ20 unit, its better than alot of people make out

PS: No confrontation meant by my post or comments. I really respect the tuning work that some of you guys do, particularly John Banks and David Wallis.
It's often enlightening to find out how owners ofther marques have tuned their cars. That's why I've been lurking around

That's an Impressive power figure and it's always interesting reading about how far engines have been tuned, no matter what make.
BUT, 500+BHP through the front wheels???!!!!???!!!!??? Totally undriveable, surely?
Beware of what? Clouds of smoke as the car melts it's tyres trying to get grip? Or beware of the Saab crossing lanes and wiping out your scoob because of massive torque steer?
Like I said I apreciate the work gone into the engine, but it's just far, far too much power to put through the front wheels.

There's the world of difference between big-power and drivability. That's why the 900 excels with ample mid-range torque. Also why they ditched the antique Garrett T3 turbos and went with Mitsubishi TE05 lumps.
Even us Saab nuts view that car with a mixture of admiration and fear Can't imagine it's a daily driver!
It's worth noting here that Jonas, the owner, is working on converting the car to RWD and fitting a BMW M5 gearbox.
PS: Anyone got a waterscooter for sale?
