Hi all! Being fairly new to this (who's first post doesn't start with that?) I could do with some advice on tracks near to me.

I live East Manchester/Lancashire way. R there any dis-used airfields, circuits etc. I can run me knew scooby round? Somewhere you can phone, book and pay at your leisure (i.e like yesterday) and not wait for an event as such?

All help appreciated,

Stevie

As far as circuits are concerned, Oulton Park is one of the best in the country. There is also Three Sisters in Wigan, and Anglesey.

Three Sisters is more of a tight twisty track... it is mainly for Karting so i wouldnt expect u to get any great speed up, even on the back straight!! I'd go for Oulton Park or Anglesey myself!

Thumbs up

I've driven Three Sisters - it is a kart track, but brilliant fun. Very tight and twisty, all 2nd and 3rd gear, max speed about 90-100mph. Almost no run-off.
Hard on tyres, hard on brakes, lots of gear changes and high revs - 11mpg !!!! Excellent for showing the scoobb's best qualities.

Thoroughly recommended.

I like the one from Horwich, through Rivington, up to Belmont, Across to the A666 and then down Green Arms Road towards Edgworth, and then back again. Best done on a summers evening during the week when there aren't too many flat caps about. It realy is a great rally stage - one of the best on a public road in fact.

Tony, you obviously ain't got a type RA m8

have to be in top by 80ish

agree about it being twisty and turny tho

we're down at Oulton on sat- doubt i'll be on track as the Impreza has just had new boots (still smarting from the cost of four 18" SO2's) and the engine's out of the 205

mail me if you want to meet and come down stevie- i'll happily introduce you to the crowd

just to add- if you're east manchester, your best bet for a first trackday would be croft.

nice flowing but technical circuit, with very little to hit.

unlike Oulton- my favourite circuit, but lots to hit

cadwell is excellent too, but I'd avoid it to start with for the same reasons.

Fazack..

Quality route mate, I also like that little trip over Rivington, along Egerton road to Egerton and then over to Chapletown along Green arms road. Some excellent bends all the way there, especially a couple on the road towards Belmont over the moors, and that twisty bit before the Blue Lagoon and then the road tightens. Green arms road is good aswell, nice left hander down towards Entwistle, can usually get some good speed round that bend in 3rd with back end twitching a bit.

What car have you got Fazack as i also live in sunny Bolton.

fazack, Jonnystell@, yup, know those roads well, live not far at all from there - bit icy at the moment though!

During the summer evenings a few of us do a little run over those roads, when the evenings lighten up we'll start them up again.
