Hi everyone,
I am a new user on scoobynet and although have not yet bought my first one i am looking. I have seen this car and would ask your opinions/advice whether or not to buy it.
1997 (R) Impreza Turbo Prodrive Model (UK supplied)
RED, 17" GOLD PRODRIVE ALLOYS, FRONT SPOILER, DUMP-VALVE, STAINLESS STEEL EXAUST SYSTEM, PILLAR GUAGES, STi BODY-KIT, CLEAR INDICATORS, HIGH-BACK BUCKET SEATS, CAT1 ALARM, FSSH + ALL OLD MOT'S, UK SPEC, HIGHLY PAMPERED, SLIGHT ABOVE AVERAGE MILES BUT HAS HAD RECENT ENGINE REBUILD
£5995
Above is the advertisement for the car, after speaking to the guy I have found out that it has 119k on the clock and it had a rebuild 12 months ago because the guy who owned it at that time specialised in rebuilding subaru's apparantly. According to the guy who is selling it all the mods were carried out buy prodrive before it left the factory apart from the exhaust which is a Magnex. The reg number of the car is R*** LUY and it has had 3 owners plus it has been a demonstrator for subaru.
Hope you can help!
Cheers, Ste

hi
i just bought a R 97 wagon with 75k, immaculate, fssh etc... uk model for 6250, from a guy who deals a bit.
I think that was a pretty good deal, book price was 7200ish yours sounds good except for the miles.
Car might be fine but be aware that you will want to sell it one day.
Also why has it had a rebuilt?
Not sure how long scooby engines should last, some people on here say ages some say different ( search around )
Be aware of piston slap, which is something I was worried about. Your car will probably be fine though seeing as it has had a rebuild, but this was a problem (depending on how you view it) on post 97 cars.
ermm!!!
hope that helps, i'm no expert but have looked into it all quite a lot.

cheers for the advice mate, but i went to look at it at the weekend and it was a no no!
the car was many different shades of red it had been painted on the front end fairly recently and really badly matched so i have steered clear of it
it was a shame really because the engine was sweet as a nut and it drove excellently, but the bodywork was seriously bad enough to put of anyone!!!
the search continues.....
