I/C Water Spray - who uses it?
Does anyone use their I/C water spray much? In the 5 months I've owned the STi I think I've used it about 3 times - and that was in it's first week to see if it made any difference!! Now I just forget its there

This time of year I hardly use mine. Come the warmer (I hope!) weather I give it a spurt every few miles depending on if the turbo has been working hard or not. I typically need to fill the watertank every weekend during the summer months!
I used it during a trackday at Brands in September as well and used the whole tank (which is pretty big!) in the space of an afternoon/3 sessions - just by setting the spray to 'auto'! I also typically give it a squirt whilst letting the car 'idle down' before tuning off the engine, just to ensure nothing melts!
Great feature to have though!

I have used mine a few times in the summer and to be honest havent really noticed much difference. Although on the rollers mine was set to Auto and seemed to kick in. when running up. I think when you sell the car everybody lifts the bonnet and shows it working lol for the novelty feature. We are running a group buy on GEMS ecu`s and apparently the Waterspray can be mapped into the car so it is used when the ECu needs it to gain more power and less det

Well I certainly do...
automatic triggering of the I/C spray, courtesy of a Unichip piggy-back. Works like a charm, reducing the intake temps by approx 5 degrees below cruising temps.
Being a tart, I have also installed a water level gauge in the washer tank, with a nice amber LED, a green LED wired in to the pump feed so I know when its triggered, and an aircraft toggle switch for manual over-ride. God bless RS Components!
This is all on a MY02 WRX, with a rather large APS FMIC! Spray nozzles hidden behind the front number plate
I get through approx two tanks of water for each tank of fuel - but my conditions are rather warm!

I take it only the non UK STi's are fitted with auto I/C spray. Seems a better option as another of the reasons for lack of use is having to take a hand off the steering wheel to operate it manually - not something u always want to do when hammering it down the twisties!

HEy Glenn why not get an ECU upgrade maybe the GEms or Motech and get the ECU to trigger your I/C spray. Remember there is a GEMS group buy running at minute.

i use mine loads, seems to really help run smoother, less det & juddering, dos'nt last long though, lucky if it lasts a tank!, always fill it up when shoving in a load of optimax + octane booster.
Could really do with a bigger tank in the boot like off the 22b, anyone know where you get 'em from & how much ££
Cheers
