Cool School Kids

Went to pick Ez up from her school this afternoon. Burbled round the car park & parked up by the gate into the school grounds. Some kids waiting for parents to collect (& before anyone starts, this school is off a B-Road 1.5 miles from the nearest village/house & we live 8 miles away) & they look at the scoob.

Go off & collect sprog, come back

"Excuse me mister, is that subaru modified?"

"Er, yes"

"Front Spoiler?"

"Er yes, from a P1"

"Wow - thanks"

(to his m8) "I told you it was, I told you!"

Aged about 9 or 10

Made me smile that the old classic still stands out for the yoof of today

There aint many cars for 9k that turn heads ages 8-80 in my experience, and thats not just because of the exhaust. Theres a school at the end of our road and I have heard kids walking past when Ive been in the garage or something saying "wooooow thats a top car," etc. Ive had blokes aged 50+ at a wedding I was videoing for a mate come over and ask me all about the car commenting on the attributes of the classic, and all for the price of a year old Asra (the wifes got 1) and you get waved at!

Cool

LOL

My lad is 8.

When I am ferrying him and his mates to footy etc, it is a non-stop barrage of questions.
Lads still love classics

DocJock,

You'll probably get my Dad (XRS) on here any minute now. Quoting your post almost to the letter with one exception:

My lad is 18.

Although nowadays the questions are more like "Can I drive it yet?" - To which the reply is normally a short laugh, then a firm NO.

I teach (and I use that term loosely!) dissafected 14/15 year olds who have basically been thrown out of school for all sorts of reasons in a college of further education. (This is getting big business these days) You can imagine the look on the faces when they find out that I don't drive a Metro or a Micra after all! Mind you, I try to keep on their right side and so far it's never been touched. They have trouble coming to terms with someone almost as old (ok, AS old) as their grandad poodling around in an STi8 with all the goodies! Strangely satisfying!!

I was in Macdonalds with Dad In car and about five yoofs on bikes came over.

YOOF "Nice motor mate has it got Nitrous"?

Me "Nope."

Yoof "Are you getting it fitted?"

Me "Nope."

YooF "Can i have a go?"

me "Nope."

Yoof "Why are you not getting Nitrous?"

Me. "Dont need it."

Yoof "Where you go racing?"

Me "I dont."

After that i got annoyed and shut window and ate Burger and chips. Felt like a b**tard Goldfish. Dont mind the attention but FFS let me eat in Peace.

My geography teacher has/had 1, classic wagon, can't remember MY tho, but i think the 'wow, a scoob' factor was lost on everyone else with it being an all girls school. But by far one of the nicest 1s i've ever come across was the one being driven by a Mr P. Solberg near Nant-y-Moch the w/end prior to rally GB.

I'm a teacher and on the days I use the scoob the morning conversation as I'm walking into school normally goes like this.....

Hey miss your car is dead cool
Miss how fast does it go
Miss you're dead cool I wish I was in your class!!

Which is then followed with whispers of......
My Dad's gonna get one of those one day

The only trouble is all the parents (and the head teacher) know its me when I arrive late cos they can hear me....soddin zorst! Can't creep anywhere with that!
I have to park it out side of the school grounds now cos Mr.Scoobypreza got so fed up of me bringing it home with finger prints all over it where the kids have been looking in through the window!
I live in fear that one day I'll take it home with a football imprint on the side.... ouch... he'd kill me!!

My mate asked if I could take his 8yr old out in the scoob. I said yes and took him out in it...he knew everything about WRC and loved the speed (although he couldn't see over the dash ).

They then took lots of pics and he was all day.

My sister always wants me to take her to school while all her mates make wow gestures out of the back of the bus. Did this for a while but then clocked onto the fact that was the only reason she wanted me to take her! She now takes the bus and answers scooby questions day in and day out at school.

"bro...how much power has your car got?....how much torque?...is it faster than...."

Mind you adults aren't much different when they stop you at the petrol station asking all sorts of questions and talking about WRC.

Makes me

So....................did she have nice ones?:

Seriously, my wife is a teacher, (well, headteacher actually: ), and was at a conference yesterday where a local head's car has been totally trashed by ex-pupils. Not a Scoob, but....................

EVERY panel dented and scratched, and the word "F*ck" without the asterisk, scored deeply into the bonnet.

So let's not get carried away with all this admiration. Kids these days are VERY fickle.

My 6 year old son is turning out to be a bit of charmer with the female teachers. When I went to pick up the kids up from school, he said to his teacher (who is quite attractive b.t.w) 'Miss, do you want to see my dads car?' I can't believe he's using my car to impress the teacher!!!

My 10 year old nephew wants me to sell him my car whenever he learns to drive. By that time the car will be in the great garage in the sky.

Cool

My local attracts quite a few young people (18yrs, well some of them), they all park their cars out the front of the pub in the limited parking that is available.

Love it when I turn up, they know me quite well now and actually move their cars out for the way so I can park my car by the window (local is in a rough area) so I can see it at all times.

One guy asked if I could take him for a ride in it, to which I agreed and then he told me he wanted to marry me but soon changed his mind when I said I did it once and would never do it again.

I remember a few months back, getting petrol and these lads about 11 or 12 come out of the shop and one said to the the other Thats a rally car, as I walked by, so I said looking at my car are you, poor little blighty nearly shat himself, So I asked do you like Subaru's he said like em I love em, I said ever sat in one, nah me dads only got a metro, wanna sit in mine I says the look on the kids face when he sat in it, Priceless, now everytime we see each other I blow the horn and he waves, I remember when I was about the same age I loved Jaguars, still do and a guy did the same to me, so I'd thought I'd make the boys day.
Cheers

I was parked up in the car park before covering the football just sat listening to the radio and I could see in the mirror one of the junior sides who play at half time walking up along the road. A few of the kids pointed to the car and I could hear "Whoa look at that Subaru" - two of the lads walked around the drivers side of the car and cupped their hands together to look in through the tints. I could see them looking at the dash and the pod mounted SECS unit, and then they suddenly spotted me sat there looking at them. Ablsolutely sh@t themselves, jumped back away from the car, went bright red and all their m8 s started laughing. Still said nice car m8 and gave the thumbs up

Sorry got a bit lost as to what you meant about the Audi TT

Parked up again outside my local last night to watch the footie, two younger kids (about 10 or 11) came up and said " I am so proud just to be standing next to your car" then came the usual questions:-

Kid1: How much did it cost?
Me: alot
Kid1: what £2000
Me: Ahem a bit more than that
Kid2: yeah you diff they cost about £400,000.00
Me: Ermm, not quite that much
Kid1: you married and rich then?
Me: No live on my own and not rich now I bought this
Kid2: you live on your own, corrrr bet loads of blokes want to **** you
Me: Ermmm got to go now, going to watch the footie
