Default Wind noise on STI8

Does anyone get a noise that i can only describe as somone blowing over the top of a bottle very loudly when travelling at speeds 0f 100mph plus ? Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be or is it just one of those things you have to live with ?

It's a pity to endure this problem this since the first WRX in 2001 !!!! Some solutions were tried, acording with Subaru importer and nothing better, the noise only comes at differents speeds after.

Unhappy

Yep I have it too, Every time I hit 120 "on my drive" what sounds like a buzzer comes on...

I'm now using it as my breaking point for the end of the drive!

I got mine at around 130 -135 on MY02. Used a very wide 9000ft long piece of privetly owned tarmac. U could land a plane on it . Runways are great.

Mine starts at 120 and just gets worse as you close on 150 .... it's the drivers window seal I think!

I can't hear any noise at that speed above the sound of my passenger shouting "slow down".

I get it between 80 & 90, drop the passenger window by about half an inch and then close and it sorts it out.

Yes, I get this in my '01 WRX - usually starts about 120 and is still there at 140 - not been any faster than that in this car yet so dunno if goes away. I don't *always* get it, but at least 50% of the time.

I was told by a previous owner that it was the drivers door-mirror that made the noise under certain wind conditions.

There might be something in this because recently someone knocked off my door-mirror, and whilst I had it held it in place with duct-tape until I could get a new mirror, the noise didn't happen.

I had this doing ~120mph on the Autobahn (my drive is too short to reach those speeds! )

The dealer told me it was a known problem and the solution was to re-glue the door seals, which he did and its now fine

Aparently sometimes the seal is not glues properly and starts to vibrate usually above 200kph/120mph and creates a loud whistle/humming noise and you can't really place where its coming from!

M8 thats gotta be it!!!!!!!

Nice one...

It didn't do it when i got it, and thinking about it, it was after I had the speakers done that it started. I'd just not put 2+2 together!

Cheers...

This happens to me too.

It was so loud on mine, I thought the windscreen was going to collapse.

Has anyone mentioned it to a dealer?

Question

First of all i would like to say hello to every member, because i am a new member.I would like your help to a problem that i face with my car.
I recently bought a new WRX STI '04.Yesterday while i was driving at the highway i noticed a very annoying noise coming from the front of the car when my speed was over 180Km/h.It's the first time i am driving the car at this speed and I'm not sure if it comes from the hood scoop or from somewhere else(I think i hear it at the front right side of the car like coming from the heating exit.
Has anyone else the same problem?

Thanks

Question wind noise

I've had this consistently normally at 120 (on my private road) but it did it at 80 in all that wind the other week for miles. Opening window definitely stops it.
Had 10k service on sat and told dealer to fix together with cold start prob.
Doing A1 from dan suf ta upta nuff at w.end so will see if they did it. Will post answer on tuesday
(they did reset ecu to factory settings to cure cold start but said still waiting for official comments from Subaru - we'll see?)
