Unhappy Gritting Chips

Just noticed that my front nearside quater has been pebble dashed...Gritting lorry I thinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..
has anyone had the same experience and how was it delt with?? I am thinking about the Chips Away Bloke. Views?

Wouldn't the offside be more likely to get hit by gritters.

Maybe something else?

i drive a gritter and unless he loaded up with stone instead of salt it would be unlikely

Bollox, you should see the damage done to my car from a gritter!

just noticed mine today all along drivers side.. bottom of door height about a 4" band front to back.. took photos and will wash and clean tomorrow.. see if any damage.. definately road salt tho'..

Yup, have to agree - they do seem to mix the salt with plenty of pointy stones round here...chips randomly arranged down the side of my car is the result

don't know where we stand but it's not on...

You will not get much change from the councils or the Highways Agency,

1) You will need to state where and when it was done.

2) Both organisations have a legal obligation to grit roads, what do you want them to do check your diary and route first so that they miss you.

3) If they decided not to grit the road because of all of the compensation claims for chips, then every one will complain and start making claims for ungritted roads.

Which way do you want to play it, either way you lose.

I thought it was now supported by case law that councils are not legally obliged to grit roads. (Sorry, can't remember the case... think it was a guy in Brighton).
